I had a great stay at this hostel. It is within walking distance of downtown and has a fairly good location. There are excellent staff who are helpful and also heaps of fun. The hostel is cleaned daily but the facilities are older so if you are after a hotel then this is not the place for you. It is a fun place and there is definately a party atmosphere that I LOVED. I felt very welcomed here and it was nice to have a place that was almost a temporary home.

Clean and awesome. I had a wicked time. The staff are friendly and chill, and the backpackers are fun, relaxed and eclectic. I felt totally at home, and I missed it as soon as I left. If you're not afraid of the very 'real' vibe (and I mean 'real' in the absolute best sense), you are going to feel very at home here. I'm a single female traveler and couldn't have felt more at home. A happy walking distance to all the main sights of Halifax. Stay!

Appears to be being upgraded one to watch - the cafe area is pleasant and staff were helpful. Bathrooms were clean rooms were basic but functional. Side entry a bit on the dingy side and doors didn't always latch properly

Fell in love with this neat hostel. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. They really mingle in with all the travellers. The rooms are nice and clean, I was very happy with the big lockers and there locks. The facilities are maintained and clean :) downstairs in there little cafe I loved the little goatcheese filo's. I would for sure come back here and to just be with these nice people

We had a bit of a bad experience even before checking into the hostel: we asked some policemen if we were allowed to leave our cars in a nearby carpark and they replied yes, but that it was a very dodgy area, and that the hostel was also a bit dodgy. Not sure this was entirely fair! The staff were for the most part friendly and very interested in helping us out. Dissappointed about the building work, but I'm sure that the facilities will be much improved as a result!

I arrived in in the sketchy area at 8pm. front door was locked and it was dark inside. I went around to the side door which was unlocked and partly open. I let myself in and wandered through the building past rooms. I eventually found reception but there was no one at it and no way to make it known that I was there. I tried knocking on the door to what may have been an office but no one answered. I wandered a little more looking for a staff member but no luck, so I left and stayed elsewhere.
