A little disappointed with location as it was in a street with mostly closed/boarded up buildings which gave it a rough edge. Town was in walking distance which was fine. Staff were friendly and rooms weren't bad either (mixed gender rooms).

Excellent hostel! Staff are very helpful and friendly, beds are comfortable and all facilities (kitchen/showers/etc) are fine. Would stay here again.

Great friendly hostel, warm showers, real character, lovely staff, really near the night life, 5 co-ed college students would definitely recommend.

The Cafe was excellent, and yes they mean it about the local characters... Brin in particular of the staff seemed very nice, and wanted to learn the names of all the guests... most of the staff were lovely... some of the loud rap music in the cafe at nights was ok, some a little over the top... overall a very nice little place

The location looked quite run down. I was very bothered by the lack of cleanliness of the hostel. The blanket that was designated to my bed smelled like it hadn't been washed in ages. There were also a lot fruit flies in the room. I would recc paying an extra few dollars for a cleaner place.

Although I did not sleep very well, the team is great, always ready to help at anytime of the day or night. If I know someone who wants to visit Halifax, I'll tell him/her to stay at your place. I didn't have time to say goodbye, and thanks again !

I stayed at the Backpacker's Hostel in Halifax for eight nights to search a room in Halifax and enjoyed my stay very much. Really friendly and helpful staff and a great atmosphere. Really good coffee and food downstairs in the café. I would always stay at this place again and I will definitely come back for coffee.

Great Hostel value for money, dorm room comfortable.Free Internet and Wi Fi. Laundry room a great plus.Good area not far from down town will soon be one of the streets to live on very up and coming.kitchen very well equipped but the cafe serves fantastic food and coffee you can even get a beer. I stayed longer than planned and would come back in the future. One of the best hostels I have stayed in around the world. Thought I was staying at another place when I read some of the other reviews.
