I really enjoy staying in Hanakiya Inn, the traditional Japanese style is really great, i feel like return home everyday. Amy is friendly and helpful. Highly recommend if you stay in Kyoto :)

Hanakiya is right in the heart of the Kiyomizu Temple area, conveniently located near tourist bus routes, major sites, lovely traditional stores and restaurants in Japan. The proprietress, Amy, is warm, friendly, and very helpful. You'd feel like you're staying with your Japanese friend or relative instead of at an Inn. If you're looking for a clean, charming, conveniently located traditional Inn during your stay in Kyoto, you can't go wrong with this choice.

We really enjoyed our stay at this ryokan. It is small and personal. The location is great for sightseeing day time, but very quiet night time and there are not so many places to eat in the neighbourhood, however Gion is only a few stops away on the bus.

I have stayed here 3 years in a row and they are not to be beaten, location is excellent. Although it is not a luxurious place but they make will make you feel at home offering you the real deal of staying in a real Japanese house. Amy is the most gracious and helpful hostess.

We only intended upon staying at Hanakiya Inn for 2 nights. Instead we changed our plans and stayed the entire 8 days. The family who hosts Hanakiya Inn were warm, and helpful as well as inclusive. The facilities are homelike, clean and convenient. We will certainly be recommending Hanakiya to anyone we know who will be visiting Kyoto. JV and SV Canada
