Friendly, helpful staff. Good decor. Clean, comfortable room. Shine Cafe next door has excellent food and drinks and friendly staff. We loved the area this hostel is in. Easy to access the rest of the city from here. A short walk from the metro so no need to use a taxi to get here.
Really nice place, located in the middle of the old city. The double deluxe room is really nice and face a small courtyard. Nice environment and friendly staff! Really good restaurant next to the hostel! I strongly suggest this hostel!
The hostel was in a great location, very easy to find on foot and via taxi from the train station. The cafe next to the hostel was perfect for a quick bite to eat, a coffee, and drink deals in the evening, a really chilled out atmosphere with very helpful staff. I would certainly recommend this hostel to anyone visiting Hangzhou.

Enjoyable stay at Hofang Hostel. Stayed in a nice twin bed room for two nights - much preferred to the small "double room" which has a thin mattress on the floor wedged between a window ( impossible to draw the drapes overlooking a first-floor courtyard on the left side - you literally WALK ON the bed - and a glass wall OVERLOOKING THE TOILET AND SHOWER on the right! Crazy layout lacking aesthetics and practicality in one fell swoop. COLD room, AC broken.
Security- Store your valuables at the reception desk. Location- Good location.Staff- Better than average. Friendly. Atmosphere- Cozy. Typical Hostel feel. Cleanliness- No complaints Value For Money- price was about right Facilities- Standard fare for a hostel, all the basics are provided. Overall- Decent place to stay, no major complaints. Lots of information in the common areas.
nice hostel, excellent location and they have so many facilities here...
I've stayed in about 6-7 youth hostels around China but I have to say this was the worst so far. The double private room was overpriced, you can sleep with the same price in a bigger and better equipped room in central Shanghai. The room was really small and it didn't have reading lights. Staff of the upstairs pottery shop was smoking right outside our room. The hostel's staff was generally polite but they messed the payment and didn't give me discount with the membership card. Not recommended
The location of this hostel is just great. It's in the pedestrian street and it's very easy to get there. The dorms are a little packed but it won't bother you if you spend your time outside, exploring.
The hostel location is not really near to the West Lake but it is within a famous old street in Hangzhou. Good effort on Xmas eve celebration & I did enjoy the night.
ideal location to be stayed and highly recommended!!
Stayed in the private twin room with ensuite. The room was clean and spacious, and the ensuite was nice, with a proper shower instead of showering over the toilet. Unfortunately we found the staff to be extremely abrupt and not very helpful, and it was noisy late at night and early in the morning, because we were close to the street and the hostel's garden where drunk people like to loudly talk late at night. Also had to ask for toilet paper and towels, things that were supposedly included.

Very nice hostel right next to the West Lake.
Great hostel with serious hipster vibe. They have itinerary suggestions posted and resident cats you can chill with in their lounge. The facilities are great and the location is prime. The staff, while helpful and friendly, seemed a bit impersonal. I suggest you visit the hostel cafe and chat with the staff there, they have much more charm. Great hostel - I would definitely stay again and you won't regret booking here if you do. Ask Shane (from cafe) where his favorite food spot is - delicious!
I stayed at femAle dorm of this hostel for 3 days and I prefer the Wushanyi hostel which is located 2 mins from this hostel. The dorm rooms are small and dingy and the toilets and showers are not in very good condition either. The common room area is very small as well and most of the meeting different people happens in the cafe outsiders.
I am a regular with Hofang hostel. The staff is helpful and all know English. The traditional market and closeness to Wushan square is good as the place is filled with a lot of activity all through the day. good thing never to miss is the morning and evening dance and other recreational activities that the locals engage in is fantastic in the ambiance and the backdrop of the temple and open spaces it has.
The staff of this hostel speaks well English, something that the staff in another hostel in Hangzhou, where I've stayed before, did not. The rooms are very clean and the beds were made up, something that's very rare for a hostel. Nice atmosphere as well.
This hostel is all about location. It's location is perfect for shopping, eating and strolling to West Lake. The rooms are nice and neat, but very small and somewhat overpriced. It was a bit hard to find and the directions need some more detail. Overall we had a great experience here and would stay again; maybe in a shared room to save some money.
it can meet my travel requirement ...
I love this place, right in the charming old town and near West Lake, with attentive and knowledgable English speaking staff. Everything is great except the smelly bathrooms in some part of the area, but very clean never the less.
