in winter you have to use the air condition to heat, as its quite cold, location is great directly at the lake, easy to meet people

I stayed here the third time within 4 years. The place has not changed a lot, not much has been renewed either. Anyway, the staff is super friendly and even tries to get you a cab between 4 and 6 pm (which is REALLY hard in HZ), the location is nice, the food is average. Bike rental is not available. Facilities are quite poor and the rooms are very cold in winter. You need the AC for heating, which I personally do not like (environment) - a change to double pane windows would help a lot!!! :)

I will definitely book again if I need to be in Hangzhou. Besides, great recommendation for one wants to visit Hangzhou at a reasonable price.

I rented a separate room and noticed some dark patches in the corner where it looked like there was or had recently been mold. Given the wet and cold time of the year it didn't surprise me, but the room was noticeably musky for the two nights I stayed in it. The bedding and air conditioner/heater were just barely enough for a warmish sleep.

Staff didn't always know what they are doing which actively prevented us from extending our stay. Otherwise a nice hostel. We stayed in a 4-bed-dorm (the cheaper one) which was small but otherwise alright. Clean bathroom, free lockers. Nice common room with some sofas. About the location: It's in a beautiful area very close to the lake and very nice parks, but no restaurants or shops close by. There are frequent buses to the city centre at daytime though.

I took a double private room, which was nice but not so clean. The furniture is a bit old, the curtains of the shower not very clean, and the bathroom smelled tobacco. We were woken up at 7:30 by the school nearby, but not a too big problem. The staff was very nice and very helpful though.

It was a real pleasant stay. The staff even organised a mountain climbing trip to see the tea plantations for free. I would stay in this hostel again, definitely.

Clean, quite, staff very cool but dorms a little bit cold when cold days come. Very good location close to the lake, rent bikes and take a ride around the lake but don't go to Lifeng Pagoda (close to the hostel) its a fake!!! (nice panorama however)

Really nice place, wonderful hostel with prime location. Rooms were ok, the common area very nice. Please bear in mind there is a schoold next to hostel and it can get very noisy in the morning, but it wasn't a bigger issue for me.

Clean and comfortable hostel with a very cosy communal area. The staff is very helpful and knows about Hangzhou and the surroundings. The school right next to the hostel was no big deal at all. You can hear the kids but I easily slept through each day till late in the morning.

This place is amazing. Off the street a bit so nice and quiet away from the traffic noise. Perfect, scenic location next to lake and lots of tourist attractions, but still accessible to the downtown. Really friendly, helpful staff with an awesome dog if you miss your pup back home. Food is really good, and everyone is very accommodating. They offer room specials at times which can be a good bargain. A really great and comfortable place to stay!

Beds are HARD HARD HARD, but everthing was clean, quiet, nice cool people at the front desk. Area is far enough away from commercial districts to be quiet, but close enough to walk easily to stores and restaurants. A brisk 15 minute walk had me at my favorite West Lake bar/restaurant. Even in November I was plenty warm in my private room. Bathroom small but on a par in size with far more expensive Chinese hotels. Would stay again.

Nice location. Plain rooms. Helpful staff, though constantly changing. Good food. Why did no one mention that it sits BETWEEN TWO SCHOOLS? Be prepaired to wake up early with school bells, drumming and screaming kids.
