Absolutely fantastic place to stay, with very comfortable rooms, friendly staff and great facilities. Only security issue is a lack of a cycle shed - not too big a deal.

I have stayed at a lot of hostels over the years and got a good feeling as soon as I arrived here. Room, kitchen and the roasting fire were awesome! Yoko the owner was super friendly and made us feel comfortable and welcome from the moment we arrived. All good on or fronts! Thanks heaps! Ben and Sarah.

My 12 yo daughter and I had a lovely 2 nights here. Maddy especially enjoyed the home cooked surprise treats! Great location, great free massage chair (just the thing after thermal pools), great atmosphere. We felt welcomed and at ease. Yoko found my much loved gloves and promptly let me know by email and promptly sent them home to Aus. Great service thanks Hanmer Backpackers.

The hostel is very clean and cosy, maybe the cleanest hostel I have ever been at. The kitchen is big and has everything a traveller needs. The free coffee, tea and milk were highly appreciated!! :) The staff is friendly and nice, they made me feel very comfortable there. Beautiful cosy garden.

I booked a bed in a 5 bed dorm for just 1 night, but if I had more time I would have stayed longer. The room was cosy and the beds are comfy. The hostel is very well looked after and immaculately clean. Tristan and Yoko made me feel welcome and are very informative about the area. Yoko even baked some delicious home baked bread for the guests. The hostel is well equipped and has a great kitchen with free spices, tea (real) coffee and milk. Best thing was the free massage chair which does wonders

When we stayed here we were shocked to find no locked doors or any lockers for our valuables. We were offered access to the safe if we wanted to leave anything with the employee. The hostel was very quaint and nice however just left a feeling of insecurity and unsafe throughout, as backpackers we are not from the area and just saying it is a safe area does not reassure ourselves. Also in this day and age it should be customary that staff & residents do not smoke by doors & windows .
