Binge drinking starts at 6pm and you will be forced to join in! Staff are very pushy and it feels like you're on a club 18-30 holiday. Seats are removed so they can make a dance floor where the very rude Aussie woman will tell you you must join in because 'you're in Hanoi backpackers'. Tours are very overpriced so book elsewhere, the western staff on the travel desk will lie to you about the weather being all bright and sunny
Great hostel! Too bad we were short of time and couldn't stay for longer... Great place to socialise. If you like peace and quiet, I doubt you will find it here!
Really social place with bar and chillout floor. They have tours etc. Internet wasn't so great and rooms could have been little cleaner. Good place for meeting people
This Hostel is heaps of fun, well located, clean and the staff are very informative and helpful. Great place to meet people as it is very social with a large bar area. Highly recommend doing to Castaway Ha Long Bay boat trip (3 days / 2nights). May be a little more expensive than what you can find elsewhere but it's worth it. If your up for a good time and to party with like minded back packers whilst seeing some amazing sights this they way to go. The Buffalo Run is also awesome. Check it out.

The rooms are very noisy!! The tours are double the price as outside. Didn't like the staff. The rooms and the toilets are ok. If u are looking for party every night I guess this is the place.
Great place to meet people, staff are amazing and will help in any and every way possible. Free breakfast isn't bad either! Good plugs and lockers in dorm rooms, clean bathrooms and hot showers. Good menu and bar area. Only negative is dont ever expect a good night sleep, if you're tired and want to go to bed early you will struggle. It's a loud hostel with a lot of drinking, if that's what you want - perfect!
This place is a great hostel and has a great menu selection! However, the wifi connection is non existent, and none of the computers on the 5th floor ever worked, this really bugged me! I'm travelling, I needed the internet to book things, etc!! Also because the weather was so bad I didn't do the halong bay tour, therefore some staff weren't interested in even acknowledging me, particularity the long blonde haired English guy who is just rude in general! The Vietnamese staff were v.friendly!
Not a chilled out place. Would not stay here again.
The staff were pushy in choosing there over priced tours and were rude when they found out we had booked another.
Really good hostel! Really reccomend the castaway tour, a bit pricy but you can guarantee that you'll be with great people and they feed you so well on the trip. The hostel is very clean, and has the best security that i have found so far. Great bar and atmosphere in the evening too

It is a good hostel if you like to party a lot. Staff are not that kind, just some of them. Great location. Bad room ventilation, during all the period of time that I stayed there, the room smelled awful.
Decent place. Just like every other big hostel all over the world
Hanoi backpackers was a great place to stay, the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. When first booking in there was a problem with our beyond the hostels control (drunk Irish girls) and the staff quickly changed our room, gave us a small refund and two free drinks. Overall the rooms are pretty pricey, if your traveling with a partner you can find privates elsewhere for the same price as two beds in a dorm, but the hostel it really well set up and worth at least a one night stay
Awesome place to meet other backpackers and have a party. Annoyed with the young kids during my trip that came esp making too much noice in the tv area, but in general everyone is pretty respectful. The bar downstairs is always lively. Tours are very expensive but worth it if budget isnt an issue. Esp loved Halong bay. The food sucked though.
If you're looking for a frat house style party, this is a great hostel, with plenty of drinking and drinking related activities to go around. I visited during Tet, and the place was packed with the energetic 18-25 set. Bring ear plugs.
It's propably the best hostel in Hanoi. PS.: Don't buy their tours, they are too expensive and doesn't worth it. There are others companies that are cheaper and better.
Make sure you book the cast away tour to Halong bay!

First stop on our 4 week trip across S.E. Asia and it was a great start. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bar/restaurant on the ground floor was always buzzing and the food was great (free breakfast too) and there was an upstairs common room/ tv/ computers area which was alot more chilled out. Never waited for a shower. Bit noisy but party stops at 11 and enthusiastic staff show you the way to other good bars/clubs. Rooms have fantastic names too! We chose not to do their halong bay trip- $$$!
Had a fantastic time here! Staff were friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere and excellent facilities. Best hostel in Vietnam!
