Staff are impatient and unhelpful. The guests are loud and drunk. The room doors slam as soon as you let go of them, making it impossible to sleep, especially with all the guests being so inconsiderate

great place to meet people. castaway tour was something else lol

If you want to spill some beers this is the place for you! Partaay hostel! Good atmosphere though, 5th floor is good for chilling out on, pool table, TV, computers. And you will have to use the computers as the WIFI is pretty pants.

Awesome place to stay if you're a backpacker looking to party. Great vibe, great people, great parties.

Stayed at the Downtown branch. Great room, beds and bathroom facilities. The lockers under the bed are a major plus. I had initially booked all my tours with the travel desk only to realise the markup at Hanoi Backpackers was almost 2x the price offered by tour agencies outside for almost the same packages/itineraries. I cancelled the tours eventually. Aside from that, this is definitely a party hostel! Common area feels like a club post 8pm and the daily pub crawl is a must do!

The Halong bay trip is great fun but we left the hostel feeling like it was just a money making machine - e.g. washing cost twice as much as everywhere else in Vietnam; being told not to bring our own alcohol to Halong to make sure we had to buy their own relatively expensive alcohol on the island. Also be warned - both food and cleanliness are poor on the island for the Halong bay trip (the latter is understandable given the ubiquitous sand, but many people found it near intolerable).

Very busy and efficient hostel. A very big and popular hostel.

Great hostel for party vibe and everyone recommends it. Reception staff can be quite rude though and the tours are very overpriced.

We had an awesome time at Hanoi Backpackers - Downtown! It definitely lived up to its promise as a party hostel. Super helpful staff, good free breakfast, clean rooms and bathrooms, and easy booking of tours. The hostel failed to pick us up at the airport though since we arrived at 12:30 AM. We were also downgraded from an 8-bed mixed dorm to a 12-bed mixed dorm and WiFi connection in 2nd floor is crappy. Castaways tour is a MUST-TRY! Beer is not free on the booze cruise though.

Amazing helpful and fun staff. Great food. Comfortable beds. Clean bathrooms. Party hostel but still a place where you can rest a get a good night sleep. Wanna meet new friends and have the time of your life.. this is THE HOSTEL. Castaway tour with them its a must. Thanks for everything guys. BUFFALO !! Diego, Chile

This is absolutely the place to go in Hanoi. The Ha Long Bay tour they run is a lot of fun. Its a party for sure.

Loved staying here. Definitely a party, fun atmosphere, but it is all what you make it. We booked a private room on the 7th floor and heard no noise from the downstairs bar. Our room was so clean and the bathroom was great. Such a nice place to rest after a day in the busy streets of Hanoi. They do a good job making it feel homey there.

Really cool hostel with an outstanding atmosphere and cool vibe. Lots of backpackers and a good place to meet people, party plan your trips. So it's got the whole package.

Great hostel, has all the facilities you want. The staff are really helpful & knowledgeable on booking trips etc. Definitely recommend the castaway trip- so much fun! Do think the booze cruise is over priced though, as includes no free booze at all.

We booked a six bed dorm and got a 12 bed dorm. That was annoying.

If you like guys in wife beaters, backwards hats and pony tails, who sleep all day and wake you up in the night then look no further, this is the place for you. The hostel is too big to meet people and feels like being on holiday in magaluf with the crowd here.

The AC in the rooms is set too hot. My room in particular was set to 25C which means it really never kicks on. I've asked them to turn it down but they rarely send someone up to correct it. They also turn it off during the day, so you can't really hang out in the room. Maybe due to their green initiative. Also, the WiFi here is so slow that it basically doesn't work. These are minor complaints for this awesome hostel. They provide free water refill stations and a free walking tour in the AM.

Decent location, awesome bunch of people, would recommend to anyone in Hanoi. The travel team are very helpful with suggesting ideas of what to do next around Vietnam. The amount of happy hours and random social gatherings are also very good for anyone who wants to meet people whilst travelling around Vietnam or asia
