Good clean hostel in good location. Only thing I would say is pub crawl is the original seems to have a tamer and older crowd whereas the new one is a lot younger and wilder! Also, a friend if mine was woken up by romping in the bunk below!!

The staff at "original" are very friendly. The rooftop bar is great and breakfast was nice. Easy to meet people here, plenty of movies to watch. Stay at "Original"... DO NOT stay at their sister property "downtown"... You will hate it, the staff are rude, the lobby is too busy, loud and there's always a queue of 20 people by reception. At "original," there's never any queue and the staff are very helpful. Stay at "original"... It is a must.

Pretty good hostel - a bit of a party place, but it was reasonbly clean, the staff was super nice. Only real drawback was that the wifi worked really bad and that it was a bit noisy at night.

Nice atmosphere and liked the free guided tour on my first day there.

Had the most comfy bed in whole Vietnam here! The dorms are nice and safe equipped with big lockers, reading light and power outlet coming with every bed. Wifi didn't worked in (my) dorm and computers were super slow. All tours and tickets you could purchase through the hostle seemed really expensive to me, so maybe find another way to book your tours.

So glad we chose this hostel and would definitely recommend staying here. It's quieter than it's downtown sister hostel but still a great place to start if you want to party. The room was spacious and the bed probably the most comfortable I've slept in in SEA! Hot water was always available and much appreciated with the cold weather. Breakfast was good and the staff were always really friendly really helpful and got everyone involved in socialising in the evenings. Fantastic hostel!!

Its a crazy party place, I thought the other reviews were just exaggerating but I can confirm to you that it is true. I'm not the biggest partier so I don't know why I decided to stay there but it was fun to watch the madness. The pub crawl is great! The rooftop bar was insane. You could hear the music in the rooms but wasn't loud enough to keep me awake. The Aussie staff was a nice touch not that the Vietnamese staff weren't nice. Great fun at this place.

As everyone says, this is a party hostel. Which means great atmosphere if you're keen to join in. The beds were comfy and well provided-for, but I left after a night spent listening to a drunk 18 year old female guest and a drunk male STAFF MEMBER shagging in the bed across from me. Really not cool.

Very good facilities and rooms, and a great atmosphere if you want to go out.

Very busy hostel with a great atmosphere. Lots of Backpackers come here constantly because its got everything you need. Don't always expect a quiet dorm as Hanoi is a popular destination to party and the hostel do a pub crawl most nights. Perfect for meeting people though and the rooms were very good (clean and good facilities). Staff were helpful and always someone at reception to ask anything. They also supply maps of the city and arrange tours although they are much cheaper at the travelshops

Together with the downtown backpackers, this is the nr 1 party place in Hanoi. This was simply not my bag, it reminded me of an all-inclusive holiday in greece dedicated to getting drunk and laid. I really missed the laid-back atmosphere of a hostel, and found it hard to connect to people here. People stick more to their own groups and friends, staff is there to entertain people and whip up the party mood. Decide for yourself if you are looking for this.

Awesome hostel in Hanoi. This is or the downtown one should be your only consideration in Hanoi. They arrange a pub crawl each night which is good. The crawl takes you first to the more party oriented downtown Hanoi Backpackers.

Breakfast is average but included. Staff always looked rushed and didn't throw odd a positive vibe at all. Rooms are good, showers are good and food is good. Tours are 200% more expensive than travel agents for the same tours (avoid!) also this Hostel is very loud! People came in drunk for the 5 nights I was there.

Staff were very pushy with drinking culture

Great place to meet people as a solo traveler. Each bunk also has a small locker by your bed, a light and then a large locker for your bag underneath the bed.

The rooms across the road aren't as good as the others - even thou you pay the same amount?? Breakfast is ok, but they charge too much for the extras, and their food and drinks menu is expensive, as well as their tours. But location is good and staff are helpful.

Hostel was alright. Feeling that main focus was alcohol. Reception mis-sold SIM card then refused to accept responsibility.

Brilliant hostel but don't book trips or buses through them-massive rip off!

This is by far the best hostel in Hanoi and has really wicked staff!! Thanks Adam and Johnno! Castaways is awesome and I was definitely guttered to be leaving. I'll be going back for sure!!

Great place. About a 25 minute walk to the big bars but the hostel organizes a pub crawl every night so you dont have to wander by yourself. the tours are a little expensive but definitely worth it. The Ha Long Bay trip was awesome and the staff that worked it were great too. All around a great hostel for a group or for a solo traveler.
