Highly social backpackers' hostel. Great mix of local and native English speaking staff. Free walking tours offered every day and pub crawls and other social events each night. Rooms are comfy and clean enough with big lockers for all your stuff. Free breakfast is nice too. Can be a little noisy at night with the Latin place next door.

My booking through you was very cheap but when I extended my stay for the next day they charged me 14 USD for my stay and when I inquired for transportation to Ho Chi Minh City The Manager/Owner at the counter said he will arrange bus ticket as flights were costing 750 USD oneway and saying so he took 90 USD for a lousy 3Day ride to Ho Chi Minh City a real horrible journey and other co passengers paid only 45USD for the same ticket. Ha.

Great place to start or end your journey in Vietnam! You will mee many people that you will encounter again going south. Party every evening until about 8pm, then you go to the bigger Hanoi Backpackers. After that they will take you to many places. This was my first time in a hostel and a great experience. Being able to load your phone in the locker is amazing, although my iPad didnt fit :< So don't be shy and go here!

Although I really enjoyed my stay at the hostel , I feel like its too busy and big for its own good , just to get a towel or breakfast requires lining up for more than 5 minutes. With that said it is definitely a party hostel do not expect to sleep or get rest at this hostel. Even if you don't drink people will come in and have a party inside your room which did bug me at times. But it was still a great hostel and I did enjoy my stay there, I just hope they build a 3rd hostel in the city.

Great stay at the old Hanoi Backpackers hostel. Met some amazing people that we are continuing our travels with. Staff were fantastic and helped with our every need, took the time to make sure we were happy even if it took an hour! Castaways 3 day tour of Halong Bay was out of this world!! Most fun we have had on our travels so far, Gay was our tour guide and he was brilliant...couldn't fault a thing! Slightly more expensive but worth every penny!

We arrived in the early morning about 1.30am and checked in. The man behind the desk gave us keys to a room called "swingers" and pointed to a a building on the otherside of the street - he did not speak English. We spent 45 minutes searching for this non-existant room, having to wake up other guests in rooms that had numbers rather than names. The man refused to help show us the room and leave his desk, so we were forced to find alternatives, during Tet at 3am after a long flight. Not impressed

The hostel is centrally located, clean and safe. Got most facilities except a kitchen (but they do serve their own food). Staff were a mixed bag, with some a bit unhelpful. It's great if you want to meet young western travellers who want to party hard, but not likely to be your cup of tea if you actually want to experience Vietnamese culture. Their Halong Bay tour is a case in point, as it is basically a glorified 3-day booze cruise...

We booked 6-room dorm, were given an 8-room dorm instead - no biggie. Excellent roof top bar. Staff were generally very helpful, one went out of her way to find us a cooking course. Comfortable beds, and generally clean toilets and shower facilities. Outstanding food downstairs - burgers & fries are highlights, and free (basic) breakfast is always a plus. We also did Castaway Island tour ($USD200). Overpriced for sure, but we had an amazing time in a drunken haze. Not a fan of Squirtle (SMS).

I think Hanoi it is not the most amazing place on earth, but you are probably going there to visit Halong Bay. Then you will be on the right hostel, they got the Castaway($$$) trip to a private island that you just gonna love it. Be prepared to spend most of your time drunk and meet loads of people. (!!!) Amazing place, free wifi and nice bar upstairs. You feel very welcomed. Not very cheap food on the bar, but great quality! Did meet my needs!

A little bit difficult to find the hostel when we first arrived Hanoi, but feel quite easy after walking around the surroudings, very colse to the Hoàn Kim. We stayed in the 4 dorms room, and it's quite small but not bad, cool and clean. The public bathroom is clean and I've seen the staff clean it several times.
