The guy at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. I believe his name was Billy :) But the room we were provided with was cold and damp the sheets and pillow were wet. The room itself had no insulation. And it would have been nice to receive a warning of the early morning wake up call that the school next door provides! Also there was no area for other guests to talk so they were sitting outside our room making a lot of noise until 11:30 / 12:00 at night!
Lovely friendly staff, no storage in dorms. Good breakfast, couldn't ask for more at such a great price. Enjoyed stay
Staff very welcoming and friendly. Beds are the hardest thing I've ever slept on.
Good price at $4, however there are many hostels in the area with $5 rooms that are much better. Staff are kind and helpful, location is great, anywhere in the old quarter is a prime spot. Dorm room is below average but again, you're only paying $4, free breakfast is a baguette and eggs, other hostels in the area have eggs with toast and bacon or sausage included. Good option if last resort but there are many hostels nearby that are much better.
it definitely was my cheapest stay in Vietnam for several years. Hostel isn't on the street front, you need to squeeze a less than a meter broad passage between houses. So watch out for a sign 5$ room. Overall a very quiet place at least now. Iwound recommend it.
I stayed only for 2 nights and my overall impression is neutral. Staff very helpful and friendly and were trying hard with all queries despite rather poor English. I noticed that most of offered tours and tickets were few dollars cheaper than in other hostels.Biggest room kinda scary, shabby and very dark, becomes more 'homely' with more ppl sharing it. Quite cold at night in winter days and provided blanket might not be sufficient, but I have some experience and always carry my own sleeping bag
Good and cheap hostel, just don't book through them or at least bargain hard. I think the bottom price for 2 days one night in Ha Long Bay would be 20$ and 3 days 2 nights would be between 30 and 40$. Otherwise the atmosphere is nice and the rooms are good.
Stayed for 4 nights. Loved the location; a little away from overly touristy areas. Many delicious local eats nearby! Internet is fast. Free breakfast. Dorm room a little stinky at noon as the AC was off. But when the AC is switched on, there is no smell and it's very cool. No place to hang towels/clothes in room. The bathroom is a lil icky; maybe make it a no-shoes area. There is a school right next to the dorm room; noisy but I liked it in a way as it is part of Hanoi life.
Good value for money, but not the hotest place around I guess.. But the staff is very helpful and friendly, I would recommend it if u travel on a low budget. Cheers, Damian
Really really bad. We booked a night here but after we saw the rooms, we decided we didn't want to stay here another second... The staff were really really young boys, they didn't really speak english. There was only one bathroom for the whole bunch of dorm rooms, the bathrooms were actually nice but our dorm room was dark, very very moist and moldy, it really smelled in there and the pillows and blankets felt moist, so we decided to go somewhere else...
