We came to the kangaroo hostel for our first night in Vietnam and it was great. In the hostel we found a clean bed and very clean bathroom. The next morning we ate a small but nice breakfest made by the staff. Then we met Mai, who runs the place, she helped us a lot to organize our 3 day (4 night) trip to Sapa and 2 days tour to Halong bay. After every trip we came back and got free room to shower and our stuff safe and sound.

The door handle broke and we had to climb out the window. The room had not been cleaned from the previous guests. The light switches where broken. We checked out within 15 mins. The owners did contact us to apologise.

Definitely a 100% review! The hostel itself is little above average, but the staff is just like the nicest people in the world! The lady at the front desk was the most helpful person we've ever seen in a hostel and she was totally trustworthy. We booked a great Ha Long Bay Tour with her but she wanted us to look around for other tours too and to ask other people at the place for their opinions. Next to that she arranged really cheap cheap flight tickets ;) Definitely let her mark your Hanoi map

The hosts are extremely sincere, polite, and helpful! They made my stay in Hanoi a pleasant one. The location is excellent, a 10min walk to the lake and next to night market. Halong Bay trips are value for money. Just arrive here and get everything booked through here. Rooms are spacious & clean. Breakfast is toast & eggs. Free pickup from airport if you book for 2 nights. The only con: room might get a bit cold in winter, good if there's heater/hairdryer. Still, I'll definitely stay here again!

Good location and good staff. Clean and big room with big bathroom. The best thing about this place is that if you book for 2 nights you get free pick up from the airport (that can cost up to 20 dollars) so it turns out cheaper than a dorm. Free breakfast is baguette, jam, eggs. The owner is a very sweet young girl, one of the few kind people from Hanoi! I would definitely stay there again.

Had a great stay at this hostel with my wife and friends. They arranged a taxi to and from the airport for us and allowed us to keep bags stored at the hostel while we were away on a Halong Bay trip even though we didn't book the tour through them. The friendly staff will give you great advice about places to eat or answer your questions about Hanoi or tours. If you want a quiet room, ask for one that does not face the street. Great time in Hanoi! Would definitely stay here again!

The staff at Kangaroo Hostel were all very friendly and accommodating. The location is conveniently located in the Hoan Kiem area, but the road outside is quite chaotic which can make for an interesting experience. Other than that, it's a great place with a great staff for a good value.
