Boom! The Kangaroo Hostel Hanoi is situated in a great location in the old town of Hanoi. The bit run down hostel had a lot of personality and it felt like a safe place. The owner and staff were great, always smiling and really helpful with everything like places to eat, doing my laundry and even handling the dishonest taxi drivers. The room was also great, pretty big and really charming. Warm and friendly place. I Will go back next time I'm in the area!

We had a really nice stay at Kangaroo Hotel. We were looked after so well by the really friendly and helpful staff. The place is very clean and well located in the old quarter of Hanoi. They even let us leave our bags while we went on a tour to Halong bay! The value for money is great, the breakfast is good, and the rooms are very nicely set up. Thank you!

Hello :) When we saw the Hotel we were first thinking:"ok..this it is?!" but then it turned out really nice. The rooms are normal and clean and the staff was really nice and helped us a lot. You can walk to everything in Hanoi and it is no "party place". We liked it a lot because it is a bit like living in the family with the hotel owners ;) Have a nice stay and enjoy Vietnam. :)

The Hostel is in a great location 2 minutes walk from the night market and 15 minutes from the lake. The staff were helpful although there were only 2 who could speak English well so if they weren't on the desk it was a challenge to communicate. The rooms are large and generally pretty clean although the bathmat and coffee mugs with breakfast were pretty dirty. The free airport shuttle was dodgy, we couldn't claim it because our 2 nights weren't consecutive which wasn't clear on Hostel World.

We had a wonderful time at this hostel. The rooms were big and cleaned every day. The included breakfast is very good (especially the fresh pineapple). The location of the hostel is perfect - walking distance to everything but it is also quiet outside at night. The staff were extremely friendly - we had booked for 7 nights but we decided to take a two-night trip to Ha Long Bay and they refused to let us pay for the two nights we weren\'t staying there. The friendliest place you can find.

We booked a 3 bed dorm and we had 2 huge double beds, private bathroom, fridge, tv, air con, fan and breakfast included for a great price. The rooms were ok for the price although you have to be ok with stairs. No issue for us. Staff lively and friendly and willing to go out if their way to help, offering good prices on tours. Breakfast for us was baguette but only because the electricity in the town cut off. This seems to happen a lot so bring a torch. Hostel locks up at night.

Amazing place. Highly recommend this place for any stay in the Old Quater of Hanoi. Grey value or money, very clean an the happiest/most helpful staff we have come across during our trip throughout S.E. Asia. Nothing is too much trouble and staff are genuinely pleased to help!!

Everything that has been written about the manager "Moon" is true. She's absolutely wonderful. In my own case, when I left another hostel 2 nights travel further to the south, one of the owners children there, had not handed me over my passport when I departed (it is 'normally' not kept after check-in) but moon then telephoned them -long distance- from Hanoi and had it mailed express to her hostel. She was helpful in other ways as well... First rate!!!

Best bed I have had in two months of travel. Excellent service - all the way from making sure I had a great room, to booking tours to a fresh cup of coffee every afternoon. Definitely value added with a smile!

The staff is nice, esp the lady of the counter. Though the facilities are a bit old, it's fine for us. But hot water for shower is a bit unstable in winter in one of our rooms. Overall, it's good.
