This place was noisy with paper thin walls. We could hear the phone next door ringing. The hotel was very frugal with everything, especially the AC in our room & lobby. The wifi didn't work & the front desk told us it was a city wide problem (lie). The bedroom door did not lock behind us (unsafe) & the bathroom fan was ancient & noisy. The staff was nice but shady; they were too keen to sell tours. The staff wanted our passports for too long. Luggage storage was not very secure either.

We did not get what we were promised: The shower had only one temperature (moderately cold). The computer in our room had no harddrive; we were given a laptop only after asking. The kettle wasn't working and not replaced even after telling the staff. The welcome drinks were just two glasses of water. No daily bottle of water. The TV was way smaller than 32". The vault was not working. No weighing scale.

Ended up staying at the sister hotel (Central Star Hotel) just around the corner. Room was spotless and the staff were really helpful with everything we needed, keeping our big rucksacks safe for us while we did a trip to Sapa! Nice free breakfast available downstairs each morning too!

The mattress was a bit hard, but as we had come from a long flight we slept like logs and didn't notice it. We came back to Serendipity Hotel after time in Sapa and Halong Bay, and the second time they were overbooked so sent us to their sister hotel (which was lovely) except we had requested a double bed and were given twin beds instead. We were only there a short time and it didn't really matter. The hotel room itself was lovely and clean and quiet.

We had a great stay at serendipity. Our group of 5 got a triple and double room and both were clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was simple but very convenient. Many shops and restaurants in the surrounding Old Quarter. Definitely do a food tour for dinner -- a private guide takes you around to great little restaurants to eat and drink for $25/person for the night. The hotel also arranged a Ha Long Bay 2d/1n boat cruise for us which was nice but water wasn't even included.

The size of the room was fantastic, and so were the staff. At sorting arrangements for us.

Not much of an area to hang out and meet people, but the staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was AMAZING. And it's within walking distance of a lot of the big sights in Hanoi.

Great place to stay in Hanoi! Very close to Old Quarter and busy markets, but on a quiet side street. Great beds and showers. Very helpful staff, though it appears that most tours offered are at a mark up. You can get cheaper rates for tours by working directly with the tour companies. Excellent pick up service from the airpory in new clean car! Decent A/C, turns off when you leave the room though.

Would highly recommend staying!!! Clean rooms with hot water, even a bathtub! When we arrived, staff was very nice & welcoming, had hot tea while they prepared our room (turned on AC) & then took us up and very open about cost of mini bar, got free water & breakfast too (banana pancakes were the best!!). Staff recommended best pho place (49 Bat Dan) & gave us a map of the city with recommendations of where to go for local beer and night market. Hotel on quiet small street with minimal traffic!

We actually got our visa changed so that we could come a day early and we changed our reservation totally last minute and the hotel actually didn't have room for us. Fortunately, the staff was amazing and they set us up in the sister hotel right around the corner and they upgraded us to the biggest room available! It was very clean, big and comfortable. Great air con. The hotel also set us up with a Halong Bay Cruise which was awesome. Definitely recommend!

Like many, we chose it for the advice of other travelers "Hostelworld" that told of the kindness, availability, courtesy of the staff: it's all to be confirmed !! are all wonderfully friendly, helpful, there is a feeling of welcome really rare, they help you in every situation, some examples: they could pick you up from the the train at 4h30 am after a tour and you have a shower and a breakfast because you had been their client, help you to organize all trips. The hotel is in a fantastic locati

The Serendipity Hotel is located in a relatively quiet street in Hoan Kiem District, the city center. From here can walk to many attractions within short distance. The staff is particularly friendly, polite and helpful. The hotel itself is relatively small, the rooms and bathrooms are clean and well equipped, everything is still functioning very well. This is the place to stay.
