Staff are very friendly and helpful, always willing to help and serve. This is good to ask them whatever place in beijing, where to go, how to go, they will provide opinion and help to reach you there. I like this hostel as i have make several friends here. The wifi / internet speed in the hostel is excellent! The location of hostel also very strategic, 5 minutes walk to bus station, 5 minutes walk to subway station.

The hostel was close to the subway and about a 20 minute walk from Tiananmen Square. The staff was helpful, the prices were reasonable, and the bar had a decent breakfast. I had a private room with a nice tv, air conditioner, and bathroom.

Inexpensive, nice, atmosphere, the staff was nice and spoke good English. No complaints except maybe too few power outlets.

Nice hostel, small with a small bar that serves good food and cheap draught beer. Most of the staff are very nice but there was some that were not. Over all its a good place to stay, dorms are cosy but it feels like the hostel is missing something to make it more lively.

staff was super friendly, beds were made everyday, rooms clean and comfy. we even got keys for the lockers inside the room, to put our personal stuff in. the only thing that was not perfect was the bathroom smell. probably the pipe's problem and not such a big deal, but also not very nice. Other than that, everything was awesome, including the staff!!!

One of the best hostel i've ever been. The staff is by far the real value added. I arrived with many luggages and they started to help! Then they upgrade my room for free so that i could be more comfortable! Also great in helping organizing my days! All that said, very clean, good room, great position and value for money! Thank you Sara and all the staff for making my stay perfect! Tommaso

It was my second time booking this guesthouse an they are still great. The rooms are clean and spacious. The bathroom is okay. And they offer tours too! The link below is my review when I was there in 2011. http://www.ihcahieh.com/2011/08/dongcheng-01-happy-dragon-hostel.html

I stayed in both a 4 person mixed room and a 2 person private room. Both were fine for the price that I paid. The rooms were very clean, which was my priority. I felt very safe, even as a female, staying in the 4 person mixed room. The best thing about this hostel is the staff. They were very helpful for english-speaking foreigners in that they were able to communicate very well to us. They were very helpful in finding places, learning the subway system, and taking us to The Great Wall.

Although it was a very cold week in Beijing (and the heater did not do much to outpace the cold in any fashion) we had a fantastic time at Happy Dragon. It was a little difficult to find at first but once found it was a nice break from the busy Beijing streets. It was super convenient being near the subway line, and if you're up for a decent walk, walking distance to the forbidden city. The best part was the amazing staff who were more than helpful and saved us when we were late for a train!

Very good is the little bar with something to drink and eat (breakfast/lunch/dinner) ... there you can learn some other people. Also very good are the tour to The Great Wall at Mintanyu, it was amazing for a good price with a nice tour-guide! We'll come back, if we stay in Beijing. And special thanks goed to Sara ;-) Zaijian!

The room was so cold, even with the heating on. The heating only warmed the top half of the room, so if you were on the top bunk it was too warm but on the bottom bunk it was too cold. The bathroom for our room was very small; the roof was low, there was a massive water boiler in there and it was very difficult to have a good shower. The bar was nice and warm though.

Great staff! Everyone was very friendly, especially Apple who helped a lot with my travel plans! Great atmosphere, will definitely try and come back again in summer. Also surprisingly good English spoken here.

The hostel and it's staff are great! Very helpfull girls at reception and in the bar. Actually the bar was the place were we spent a lot of time - great atmosphere, drinks....and very WARM. We stayed in January and it was really cold in the rooms (air conditioning is very poor). So I wouldn't recommend to stay in Happy Dragon Hostel in the winter - you can even see your breath - so cold it is.
