The place felt soul-less. The lights were out in the common rooms, the private rooms weren't clean (carpets in a hostel are a bad idea if you don't replace them every couple of years) and the people working there acted uninterested and uninformed. I would definitely advise against visiting this hostel if you visit Durban.

Please, don't put any notice to the "fun" answer. I was travelling alone and was much older than most of the other guests. So I didnot expect to have much fun. But I thought I had to answer. I will like to thank the girls at the reception desk for all help and friendliness. I was leaving by Bazbus, and when the bus came, I was so happy that I forgot to say "thank you" and "goodbye".

Perfect location for Marine world and for the city center. Rooms are amazing. No bugs, service is fast. Internet does suck but other than that I was happy

The first room we got was not of the standard we were used to from other backpackers: Shower handle broken, shower itself just dripping. Black stripes on white linen and towels. However, when we reported these things to the reception the next morning, we were moved to a different room within 15 minutes. But still, I think that this room should not have been offered to guests in the first place. Also, the matresses have become quite uncomfortable over the years and should be exchanged soon.

Huge place with tons of potential - but fail miserably at making this a good place for backpackers. It's not close to anything and you must have a car to get around. Rooms were spacious, but sheets were so soiled that we slept in our own sleeping bags. Would not go back.
