We where 3 people in the fifty's and one sixteen year old which is not a problem but they could have inform us of the transport fascilities in Durban We will use Happy Hippo Backpackers again

A very clean and welcoming place. It is situated close to Ushaka Marine world and also a Baz Bus stop. We didn't have any problems there and if I ever visit Durban again, I would surely go back to Happy Hippo.

Happy Hippo is a newer hostel with excellant location in an easy to access beach environment. Bus transportation is ideal and the hostel is well managed and the staff helpful. The kitchen and bathrooms are kept clean and are up to date. The front rooms boarder on a busy street and are rather noisey at all hours. Also the room was very dark with dim overhead lighting and a table lamp that did not work. Overall it is a very accomodating place.

The Staff was really unfriendly and not polite at all. It seems that they didnt want to work, not to mention that they never reply if you say hello or goodbye.
