I had a perfect time in New York. The only bad note was.. the YMCA. Didn't like the atmosphere and the treatment they gave me. I never felt so embarrassed in a place as I did there. I spent four days there and on every single day the security treated me with bad mood, like if I was a bad guy. I spent all days out at the city, but when I came back at night to sleep, I felt sad just to remember that I would be received with that bad humor, like they were doing a favor letting me be there.

Horrible felt like I was staying in a prison cell and no sleep as everyone is up and down all night to the shared toilets

Nice staff, clean and comfortable, although there was some noise from the hallway.

To be honest I don't expect anyone with a decent sense of privacy to share same bathroom with me while taking my bath.I was scared stiff when this happened to me(no thanks to shared bathroom policy). Secondly, I paid for a single bedroom with a double-bed size (68 dollar/nite). The internet pictures were deceiving and I was disappointed when I finally realised it was a single bed size. Wifi should be made available in all rooms. Sleeping for 6 nights was a nightmare as doors squeaked all night.

Bathroom were not very clean, they shut water off at night. Positive is my private room, not positive is I can hear every noise outside. Unless you need to stay in Harlem you may want to consider something else.

Big building (11 floors), it seems only 10th and 11th floors are enabled to accommodate guests. small and clean rooms, no WiFi in there, only in the first floor.

There are a few things I believe should be improved. First, wifi is only available in the wifi room. Second, the bathroom has two showers, but no separation between them. Third, the hostel doesn't have any sort of breakfast. It does give a small discount to a place nearby, but I think the hostel should still provide something. Even it is just bread and coffee. Overall, the place is okay. I only needed a place to sleep anyway and there's a subway station on the same block.

The location was perfect because it was half a block away from a friend. We only stayed one night and I am glad. The place itself was clean but sparse, which is to be expected. It Also, it had 24 hour security, and you had to show your key to go up to the rooms. My issue was with the noise, which was not produced by the people in or outside the hostel, but by the building it self. The pipes clanged and doors squeaked. Loudly and often enough to keep me from wake. It was not $ but not worth it.

For those who are not used to heaters in a room a note of how to turn them off or on. As from Australia and where i liove we dont have any types of heating like those found in the room.

We had a great stay at the hostel. the staff was really friendly! There is a microwave, a swimming pool&a fitness center you can use whenever you want. The rooms are small, but that´s fine because you are only there for sleeping. The location is good and SAFE!!!There are two subway stations (red and blue line) right near to the hostel. It takes you 15 minutes to the Times Square. The subways come every two minutes during the day. There are only 3 bathrooms on the floor, but we never had to wait.

Good for a night or two - staff are super friendly. But not much of an atmosphere if you're looking for the 'hostel experience'.
