While one staff member was very helpful and cheerful the rest were apathetic zombies. Even though I had booked weeks in advance the kind of room I had booked was not available when I checked in. One of the staff zombies then proceeded to make assumptions about what alternative arrangements I would prefer without asking. The rooms themselves are good and clean, the beds comfortable.

Kids and adults on the same floor?- No. We couldn't get any sleep. 'Free' 'continental' breakfast with only toasted bread?-No. Some cheese and boiled eggs wouldn't cause bankruptcy.

Can't add much more, except to say, having stayed in many types of accommodation, Hatters was a very enjoyable experience all round. On the website it said you could hire a towel, but we found one on our bed, so needn't have brought one. It's a shame there are only 3. Are there plans to expand to other cities?

Great location. The room was good, but the hostel is noisy at night, people running up and down, drunk people arriving in the early morning making all kind of noise without any control. Good breakfast. Isn't the cleanest hostel I have seen. The staff at reception isn't kind at all, some try to do their best, but every day there's different people at reception, luck of coordination, they tried to cheat us twice.

Probably the best hostel in Liverpool, however it still doesnt stack up to other "best hostels" on my trip. It was a very typical hostel stay. Nothing stood out as very good or very bad.

I ticked "average" in the "Value for money" line and I'll tell you why. We booked 2 nights (sunday and monday) in a private room and it was perfect. The price was reasonnable and the room was clean and nice and everything. But then we asked if we could book one more night on the saturday; the answer was that you only take bookings for 2 nights over the week-end. We found it a bit bad because we'd been there for 2 nights etc. but all in all we understood. When we were back in Liverpool

Great place to stay. The only negative is that i was staying in the fifth floor and the lift stop working the second day.

Well, because it was very cheap, way cheaper than the usual hotels in the UK, I can't complain a lot about the size of the rooms, and the fact that there wasn't enough plug-ins.. This is nothing if you think about price and the excellent location of the hostel. But one thing I have to say: HORRIBLE STAFF! DREADFUL!! They treated me as if I was invisible, many times I had to wait for them to finish chatting amongst each other, so they can talk to me.. And even then they wouldn't be polite..

The hostel is very ok, but I must warn, a litte smelly, like an old ashtrey. The staff was nice, but could not give us local information, like how to get to Holyhead. Nobody must know everything, but a more pro active attitude is always welcome.

Alright hostel. Ensuite bathroom was very good. You have to go downstairs to the basement if you want to connect to the wifi which was a bit of a pain, but not too bad. Apart from that I quite enjoyed my stay.

I stayed in Liverpool for a two day conference. The guy at reception persuaded me to upgrade from dorm to single room. I found it better than staying at a hotel - I like the informal atmosphere.
