overall hostel was good. just a shame that it is single glazed so can hear the street noise at night.

Owner Comment (Hide)
That is unfortunately the disadvantage of having a hostel so centrally located! Party central is literally on our doorstep so it's hard to avoid the noise, but we do supply earphones, and can arrange for you to stay in a quieter room if you put in a request with our lovely receptionists :)

I stayed at quieter time in January. Advantage was I stayed a 4 bed dorm alone with complete privacy and peace! Disadvantage was no activities organised in January. One suggestion to hostel is to have lockers inside the rooms. I know there are lockers in reception but lockers inside rooms will give easier access and better peace of mind.

Lucky you ;) We are so sorry about our events calender - unfortunately our lovely Rafa moved on in January and we were without a host until about 2 weeks ago! We now have Pablo in da house so next time you come we can promise you a good time!!!! We do get comments about lockers quite a lot so we will see what we can do about it :)

The hostel was normal. It looks a little old but nice painted. The bathrooms were very clean and the rest of the common areas, too. I stayed in a room with 8 beds, that room was dark, without good ventilation and with bad smell because of The wet towels that were left there to dry, The bed was comfortable but the bed clothes were old. The building is close to everything: bars, restaurants, shopping center, buses and trains, but there is some noise during first hours of the night.

Gracias to our painters ;) There is unfortunately not much we can do about the bad habits that some of our guests possess, we would also much prefer our guests to let their towels air out on our terrace! Regarding the bedclothes - we will have a word with the top dogs about kitting our beds out with a newer and more fashionable wardrobe ;)

Hatters is one of my favourite places to stay in when travelling. I've used them many times and will continue to do so.

Thank you so much, your loyalty is much appreciated :)

Very average hostel. Beds not particularly comfortable and no lockers in room with little space for bags. Was placed as only female in dorm of males. Common areas not sufficient for number of guests (even in low season) - not enough space to sit and relax. Staff were ok, but had limited local knowledge. Very noisy from street at night - earplugs necessary. Wifi patchy.

Owner Comment (Hide)
AVERAGE, you say!??! We admit that we could expand our common areas, all in due time! Because we cannot indivually check each booking as they come in (and also....definitely would have put Stevie Nicks in a male dorm) it's difficult to make sure that doesn't happen, but ask and you shall get!! Thanks for leaving a review though and come back when we have built our empire!

I would NOT reccomend this hostel at all. It is near impossible to get any sleep as whole buildings walls are thin, from 9pm-5am all u can hear is drunks in streets screaming, singing and fighting. U can here music playing non stop all night from a close by club. Its overly priced for the basic bare old rooms, its dirty, if lucky room is slighlty cleaned if someone moves out, which isnt always daily. They advertise free toast all day, not true only available at breakfast.

Owner Comment (Hide)
We agree with you to an extent - a backpackers' hostel probably isn't the best place to be getting some peace and quiet!! We say if you cant beat 'em, join 'em - absolutely love a good street-fight after a hard day's work :) Jokes aside, we regret to inform you all that we have indeed stopped our free toast all day, but it is free all morning, and we'll turn a blind eye if we happen to notice stray slices peeping out of your pockets ;)

Our stay was great. Hostel was great: warm, with breakfast, very nice stuff, who were always at reception in case you need anything. Room was spacious and clean and with loads of sockets, wifi was pretty fast. The only bad thing is that it can be a bit noisy. Non the less really enjoyed it and would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone!

Yuusssss. We do our best to keep you guys happy, so we're glad you recognised that we were always there to help you :) Mancunians are indeed party-mad, so with our central location it can get noisy, but we can always swap you to a different room or supply you with ear plugs if it gets too much! :)

location were great, near to the piccadilly bus/train station. the staff was helpful and friendly. the 6-bed mixed dorm with an ensuite bathroom was great. btw, the shower box in 206 could get clogged if it get used a bit longer.

Owner Comment (Hide)
Yepyep, we are close to all amenities and most importantly, bars ;) We promise to get 206 checked out, hope you stay with us again in the future :)

Good location, £5 wet shave from the barber accross the road was a highlight and some humming bars in the immediate vicinity. Found the area quite alternative, lots of graffiti

The ensuite doublé room was really excellent value, and the hostel is right in the centre of Manchester, in the Northern Quarter. Would totally recommend this place

Your rating of 100% just made our day :) And yes, we're located right in the middle of everything that's anything!

The location of the hostel was really good! It's directly in the center! The rooms are clean, but the mattresses were very uncomfortable. I liked the TV-room and the kitchen and the all-day "breakfast" :) The terrace must be awesome when the weather is good. But, it was very very loud during the night. Both inside the hostel as well as in front of the hostel.

Owner Comment (Hide)
You are right, our central location is great, but it does pose a problem when it comes to peace and quiet! The terrace is awesome in the summer (believe it or not, Manchester does have one of those), so come back soon for a Hatters BBQ!!

Good hostel. The only problem was a heat pipe over my bed which aways i was hitting my head on it.

Owner Comment (Hide)
!!! Haha sorry about that!! Next time we can get you some elastic bands and an extra pillow to attch to your head :p (We can always swap your bed around too - we hope we haven't caused you any permanent damage!)

Despite being there around boxing day, the character of the hostel was awesome. And the staff superb. We managed to convince the staff to go to party after their shift. When we realized we were about 15 people from the hostel Thumbs up

Owner Comment (Hide)
Hahaha! That was such a fun night, hugely needed after a long shift (and hugely hungover waking up at 8am)! Thanks for the review and thanks to all who came out, I had no idea that many people were going to follow us :) Viva la vida en los albergues!..............? Haha I hope you are bringing your party vibe to wherever you are :)

There's blood stain on the floor during my stay. Told the staff about it but no one came to clean it up. Bedsheets were clean though.

Owner Comment (Hide)
Ah....we do have a 'No Bleeding' policy here at the hostel but I suppose somebody must have broken the rules. Joking. We're really sorry, we are usually the only staff member in the building making it difficult to leave the desk! We will take note of this however and we hope you still enjoyed Manchester!

Hatters at Hilton is a very nice place to stay in the centre of Manchester if you are just looking for very basic facilities. It's good value for money and the price includes a nice continental breakfast. There are also cooking facilities and free tea/coffee available at all times, which is a nice touch. The games room with tv, pool table and bookshelf to swap your finished books also ensures there's always something to do and is a great place to meet other people.

Owner Comment (Hide)
We're so glad you used our bookshelf, I find it gets a little abandoned and lonely at times with the wi-fi being more popular with today's generation! Thanks so much for your lovely review :)

Excellent stay! Very quiet and confortable! Would definetly recommend!! Good breakfast - I had to leave the hostel at 7am, and it was already available. extremely clean, reception 24h. Good location, near nightlife and train station. Very convenient to the airport as well,

Owner Comment (Hide)
Yippee! Our night staff usually prepares breakfast early for early morning departures. We are very close to main attractions, and the N4 where we're located is bloody brilliant.

Fantastic location, although a little loud because of the lively area (we were there on the weekend). Bring headphones or earphones for sleeping, and it will be fine. The staff was friendly. I was surprised at the cleanliness and overall facilities of the place. Clean rooms, clean bathrooms, a clean kitchen area with free toast and tea all day. A very good deal for the money, in a fantastic location!

Thanks so much, it can get pretty loud around The N4 on weekends, but we do provide earplugs and such at reception so just come up and ask if you have any issues :) Failing that we can get the megaphone out and make aggressive Shushing noises out the window.

Comfortable hostel located within the city centre, and a short walk to the main shopping streets. Rooms were clean and comfortable, but prices were a little steep.

Owner Comment (Hide)
We can get pricey on busy nights in Manchester but I promise we will still be cheaper than anywhere else you might find!!

I could not find a single fault with Hatters at Hilton Chambers! Friendly staff and great, clean facilities, I would recommend to anyone considering a cheap stay in a central city location.
