This hostel is dirty. The staff werent helpful especially 2 blonde ladies who always gave negative (No) answers to most questions. Unfortunately they were always on the same shift. Location is good but I wouldnt recommend this hostel.

The hostel is very nice and well located... with a typical Manchester ambience ;) The all-day free coffee, tea and toasts are a perfect idea and a definite asset. And they put some good music! What I didn't like was going downstairs to the bathroom - there were only men's toilets and showers on my floor. There is also no lift and no privacy in the shower - I guess you have to undress inside it...

Good things: Location! Easy to meet new people! Free toast, coffee and tea. In one day we had free risotto, and one day we had free barbeque! Some of the staff members were very nice. Bad things: No free wifi in the rooms:( No lockers in the rooms, there was no place to put your stuff. There was too hot in the room. Some of the staff members were VERY rude (for example the older man, and the blond, long haired woman). The showers and the toilets weren't that good, very cheap, like in school.

Staying at Hatters in Manchester was such a great experience. I would highly reccomend it to people visiting Manchester. The location was great and central to everything. The staff was very nice and helpful and everything was clean and comfortable. It was a very postive and welcoming atmosphere.

The main sticking point with the dorms was that there were no lockers in the rooms, only the ones at the ground floor near the reception. Another thing was that there was an incident whereby a group of rowdy youths were running around the hostel, banging on all the doors and threatening to do stuff to the guests inside, which did not reflect well on the security. Other than that, the toilets were spotlessly clean, and there were great facilities with great breakfast, and free wifi.

Overall the hostel and location are pretty good and the staff were nice and helpful when there were some problems with bd assignments. The free walking tour was pointless though, the "guide" just walked you to museums without saying a word

The beds were aweful, the room was very noisy by some hot-water pump. Showers heads were at the height of my armpits and annoying. Walking up 5 flights of stairs is not my idea of fun.

I loved the free breakfast and the free tea/coffee/toast. The bed was comfortable. I would have liked a locker in the bedroom.

The hostel is at a great location, being just 5 minutes from the city center. The building is quite run-down, but it\'s clean. The staff was friendly and nice. There are several common areas with sofas, which is great if you want to stay in for a bit. Toast and coffee and tea were available all day. The hostel is next to a main street and many people (at least from my room) do go out in the evening and come back in the middle of the night. But bring a pair of earplugs and everything is good!

Really spacious hostel with great facilities. Great location and value for money with the all day toast! Not really a party hostel so good if you're after something a bit quieter. Don't bother going on the internal pub crawl but the one on Friday you pay for can be excellent if you've got a few people going.

Great staff, clean and comfy beds (considering its a hostel) good location and well run. Free wifi which was a bonus as i was in the city for business. Would be excellent if they provided lockers tho. Overall, its a good hostel and i would definitely return.

One particular female staff member was rude to me, as usual, but at least she is consistent. Manchester is a great city and both Hatters hostels are generally good but if a staff member doesn't particularly like a person, for whatever reason, they should not make it obvious and should remain professional.

We were a group of 10 people staying in one of the dorm and we had an awesome time at hatters on newton street! Definitely loved the free toast, coffee and tea and the pool table! The beds were comfy, the showers clean (although the water was a little bit too warm, but that's always better than too cold) The hostel is ideally located and the staff was really friendly and flexible on the number of people :) One of the best hostel experiences i've had so far!
