For me, the most important things about a hostel; a) bed is clean b) the room is dark c) showers are clean In regards to the above; a) the bed was clean, but it was squeaky and the mattress was lumpy (clearly old). For £28 a night I am expecting more. b) The room wasn't dark - the blinds are cheap and slightly broken c) The showers are clean, but I don't like the style of a row of 5 showers that forces women to change in a large, cold room. In short; I'll book a premier inn rather than hatters

really enjoyed my stay. As lonely traveler stopped in the city for just one night I felt secure and met lots of people thanks to the activities sponsored by the hostel. Free hot drinks and bread available all day long and really helpful staff during the day...but during the night the guy was a bit grumpy when dealing with people. Best position ever, close to Piccadilly garden and all stations (central coach, shudehill and central train) are within walking distance. Definitely recomanded.

Very nice hostel with very friendly staff! The bar crawl was cool and met a lot of people from all over the world! The hostel was only 2 minutes walk to the center (picadilly gardens) where you can take the tram to Manchester United stadium (10 to 15 minutes). Only thing was that there wasn't a facility to change and hang up your clothes the bathroom after showering.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at hatters; the staff were lovely and very helpful the facilities were great and the activities like drinking games were great to get to meet other solo backpackers! Highly recommend.

great location and social atmosphere! beds were comfortable and free bread all day was a bonus. showering was a bit of a display of public nudity, but the water was hot and pressure always good. toilets were old, but clean. no powerpoints in bathrooms and they were scarce and not easily accessible in bedrooms, which was a bit annoying. security was excellent. would definitely stay again!

They should offer "free Internet". It is really expensive the services.

The best of this hostel is the staff, definitely I recommend it, the staff is very very friendly, more tan friendly amazing, they help you with all your doubts, they helped me to book the tour to the Old Trafford stadium and told me exactly directions to go everywhere, the location is perfect, very close from picadilly station, Internet is powerfull in common áreas and the room aswell, free coffee and toast during the day so that's coool, I'd stay here again always. :)

Simple, fit for purpose. Nothing amazing here. The remote for the TV didn't work the night porter just shrugged and told me there was nothing I can do about it.

It's a bit noise at night and caused me often awake up at midnight.

Although I was not a fan of having to run up and down the 5 flights of stairs all the time, my stay was great and I couldn't have asked for a better location. My only complaint (dare I say it) was that the water was actually too hot in the showers! Pleasant staff, neat old building, and a great atmosphere even at 3am.

This hostel was a bit dirty, dust bunnies everywhere, lots of mold in the bathrooms. However the staff was exceptional, friendly, helpful, and seemingly happy to help and even give personal recommendations of places they loved in the area (and not just in the city). The staff is really what make this place. Breakfast is fine and the free WiFi is good.

The staff are nice, wifi is available only in common room. It is a bit noisy if the room is at the road side.

Rooms were freezing, no space to put your bags in the dorms and it was frustrating you couldn't get wifi in your room. Quite noisy at night and lights shone into the room I was in so difficult to sleep. Other then that, good location, friendly staff and great group of people that were staying there. Enjoyed this hostel overall.

It is in a very good location, but really expensive. And you have to pay for pub crawls etc. quite a bit.

It's a very good hostel and the staff is excellent! But the bar crawl organized by the hostel has to be really the worst bar crawl that i have ever been on. Apart from that i had a very good time!

they need to fix the plumbing, we couldn't sleep because there was a loud droning sort of sound anytime anyone turned on the tap- good location though
