One of the better hostels in UK. The hostel put a FREE meal on at night and was great to sit down and chat to all the other travellers. Close to the rail and bus stations. Rooms were fine.
The hostel was okay. There were no lockers in the bedrooms - only a limited number downstairs by reception. The bathroom were across the hall for girls, and down the stairs for the guys - not ideal. The showers were dirty and like a swimming pool change room - frosted glass shower screens for privacy. Breakfast was decent. Unlimited toast was handy after a big night. Security was lax. Good location. Beds pretty rickety. Fine if you just need somewhere to crash, but expected a lot more.
We stayed in an 18 bed dorm over the bank holiday weekend. Overall it was fine for the price we paid. The main down side was that there was no bathroom attached to the dorm. The ladies was on the other side of the hallway and the guys was on a completely different floor. The building is fairly old and slightly dirty, but overall it was ok. The breakfast of toast, cereal, yoghurt & juice was nice.
Location was good, about a 10-15 min walk from the central station and an easy walk to anywhere else in the city. Security was good, staff was great, and overall I was extremely impressed and was much nicer than I had expected. The atmosphere was relaxed and definitely open for meeting people. My only real complaint would be that the kitchen was extremely small and the furniture in the lounge area was really old and uncomfortable. Overall though, I would definitely stay here again.
I enjoyed my stay at Hatters and was very comfortable there. Tea, coffee and toast was a welcome treat! There was plenty to do and plenty of people to talk to.

The building was very old and very cold. We needed an additional heater in the room that. athough noisy, saved us from freezing. Breakfast was very poor and cleaneliness in general was not very good. At times the hostel gave the sesation of having almost people there working for them as to get a place to sleep at. The price has extremelly high for what we ogt in return.
Staff in this hostel was very friendly and helpful. Although the hostel was bit untidy and worn out it was ok to stay in a night. Room was cold and we couldnt close the curtains probably so it was light in the room whole night.
The hostel was pretty good. We had am unfortunate event where the receptionist told us no need to book and when we got there we did In fact need to book which was a bit of a let down. Wifi only works on bottom floor even if you pay for it. And had to go down one floor to have a shower or toilet cause the boys were on our floor. However awesome facilities with pool table and dartboard as well as large kitchen. Free toast all day was a nice touch also. Good breakfast.
really enjoyed my stay. As lonely traveler stopped in the city for just one night I felt secure and met lots of people thanks to the activities sponsored by the hostel. Free hot drinks and bread available all day long and really helpful staff during the day...but during the night the guy was a bit grumpy when dealing with people. Best position ever, close to Piccadilly garden and all stations (central coach, shudehill and central train) are within walking distance. Definitely recomanded.
For me, the most important things about a hostel; a) bed is clean b) the room is dark c) showers are clean In regards to the above; a) the bed was clean, but it was squeaky and the mattress was lumpy (clearly old). For £28 a night I am expecting more. b) The room wasn't dark - the blinds are cheap and slightly broken c) The showers are clean, but I don't like the style of a row of 5 showers that forces women to change in a large, cold room. In short; I'll book a premier inn rather than hatters
Clean and very spacious, the staff was welcoming and helpful plus the atmosphere was warm and homey. Probably the best hostel were I've been. I'd definitely recommend it because very simply: everything was in order and better!
Pretty nice place and the location was pretty good too
Very nice hostel with very friendly staff! The bar crawl was cool and met a lot of people from all over the world! The hostel was only 2 minutes walk to the center (picadilly gardens) where you can take the tram to Manchester United stadium (10 to 15 minutes). Only thing was that there wasn't a facility to change and hang up your clothes the bathroom after showering.
They should offer "free Internet". It is really expensive the services.
had the best time ever
great location and social atmosphere! beds were comfortable and free bread all day was a bonus. showering was a bit of a display of public nudity, but the water was hot and pressure always good. toilets were old, but clean. no powerpoints in bathrooms and they were scarce and not easily accessible in bedrooms, which was a bit annoying. security was excellent. would definitely stay again!
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at hatters; the staff were lovely and very helpful the facilities were great and the activities like drinking games were great to get to meet other solo backpackers! Highly recommend.
Best atmosphere ive experienced at a hostel so far!!! staff are very friendly and helpfull thoroughly enjoyed my stay :)
The best of this hostel is the staff, definitely I recommend it, the staff is very very friendly, more tan friendly amazing, they help you with all your doubts, they helped me to book the tour to the Old Trafford stadium and told me exactly directions to go everywhere, the location is perfect, very close from picadilly station, Internet is powerfull in common áreas and the room aswell, free coffee and toast during the day so that's coool, I'd stay here again always. :)
Simple, fit for purpose. Nothing amazing here. The remote for the TV didn't work the night porter just shrugged and told me there was nothing I can do about it.
