What a great place to stay on a budget. Right in the heart of the red light district. If felt really safe and the staff were lovely.i have stayed in many hostels in the dam over the years and this was definitely one of the better ones. Will stay there again definitely. The lockers were good and I liked the shelf and light next to each bed.

Stay was fine, no issues. Minimal going on at the hostel. Location ideal if you want to experience the red light district. We got a lock box to store valuables.

Great beds so comfy!!! The beds have a locker/nightstand and light which is cool. Bathrooms where pretty good, GREAT location. Only bad things really was there's no atmosphere and the staff wasn't the friendliest. I'd stay there again

The best part about Heart of Amsterdam is it's location. It's right in the red light district and very close to Dam Square, which is perfect. The rooms are pretty dark and there's no real common area but we were only in Amsterdam for 3 days and didn't spend much time in the hostel anyway so it was no big deal. The lockers were slightly small (for our bags at least) but very secure. So if you're like us and plan on being out in Amsterdam and exploring most of the time, than this place is perfect.

This hostel was OK, but I moved out after a couple of days because it didn't have much of a social element. The rooms themselves were fine, right at the end of the red light district. The staff was ok and other than the lack of social element, there wasn't anything really wrong with this one, I just think there are better ones. But if you need a place to sleep that's no -frills and might have availability, then this one is fine.

This hostel is located in the heart of the red light district. The dorms are very dark meaning it's hard to see plus there is no AC or fan! And the rooms were boiling, leaving us to wake up feeling dirty and horrible. I did not feel clean whilst staying at this hostel and I think there is a lot to improve

Pretty decent hostel right in the middle of Red Square if you're looking to party. No common room to meet anyone staying at the hostel so hopefully your roommates are friendly.

We enjoyed Amsterdam a lot and the location of this hostel is excellent. However, there is no kitchen or even a fridge, no common area where you can meet fellow travelers.

Painting the walls and roof black does not hide dirt, nor does the black tiles. It just makes everything look depressing and dark, especially the bathroom. The room we stayed in, the hobbit room, was spacious but smelt of mould and the bathroom was awful, bad lighting still didn't hide the filth, and the lack of ventilation made the bathroom feel like a sauna. For what we paid per night per person, we expected a lot better. Great location though!

The surrounding of the hostel should have been mentioned more in the description!

The only thing this hostel has is location: middle of the Red Light District. Anyone could walk past the front desk, so it could be more secure. The staff was incompetent, unable to correctly bill me upon arrival, and then had to bill me later. It was very expensive for a not-that-great hostel. There was basically no atmosphere-no one talked to each other or hung out together, making meeting people in the hostel hard. Not super clean or super dirty, but they did provide towels. Spotty wifi.

Cool place, but it was slightly disconcerting having Roger Moore watching me as I slept.

It creeped me out, but the rooms itself were nice and comfortable. the lobby is sketchy and the security is non existent as no one ever asked for anything as I would enter all throughout the day. The stairs and the décor are old and from the 80's but once you enter the rooms which are very secured, you feel at home. I didn't check out the facilities like the smoking areas or anything like that as I just used this place for the bed, shower and location.

Central location, with cafes, supermarket and metro nearby, but it's a pretty unpleasant experience as a girl to have to walk back alone through the red light district at night. Rooms are cleaned daily but the place is generally run-down:leaky faucets, squeaky doors don't close properly, bathroom light was broken and not fixed for 3 days, and the WC is tiny... like standing room only! The place could use a kitchen because eating out is expensive.

It hostel has a really good location, in the centre of everything. Is easy to get there from the train station, around 15 min walking. The rooms are good, each bed with plug to charge, towels and lamp. I'll recommend it.

It's a very darky place all over, they obviously don't want you to loaf around. I arrived in the middle of the week for one night, does that explain why the cleanness of the bathroom was so-so? well, it must said it was a 12-bed room... The staff is OK, just kind enough, just helpful enough. It's alright for a couple of nights though considering the excellent location in the heart of the RLD.
