The perfect gateway to take a break from the craziness of Italian cities. Guido, the owner, is an amazing man with million stories that will make your stay memorable. It's the perfect place to have non touristy wine tours, bike around the region or simply enjoy the sun by the pool. Favorite place I've stayed in five weeks around Italy. Totally worth staying at least 4 nights (fourth night is free!). Might seem a little hard to get there but Guido can pick you up at 11am at Empoli train station.
What a beautiful place to stay. The owner Guido realy makes you feel at home and arranges everything to have a great stay. The location is unbelievable with a nice overview of Tuscany and a swimming pool with mountain sights. The atmosphere is superb. The dinners together in the evening with the other guests are something to look forward to. The food is of very high quality and certainly some of the best food you can get in Tuscany. Combined with the very nice wine it can't get better!
After travelling for 8 months in many hostels this is by far the best we have stayed in. The owner, Guido is generous and goes out of his way to make sure you have an incredible stay. It is more a luxurious villa for travellers than a hostel, as the pool, scenery and homemade cooking gives you the best authentic Tuscan experience you could ask for. We have made many friends and will definitely return. Guido, Ill be back for my wedding...better than the Rastas. Stay here, a must in Europe. X
The hostel has a beautiful swimming pool and lovely gardens. It says it has a restaurant which serves meals of pasta wine and water starting at 9e husband had a bowl of pasta a piece of chicken and a glass of wine and was charged 28e. Our bathrooms were shabby the toilet seat was broken in half. We were not given any info as to where to get food and there was no one to ask until 8.30pm at night. There was only one sitting for dinner which was basically whenever the owner determined.
The heart of Tuscany is very picturesque however is a shuttle ride away from Empoli which costs €12 each way other than the free ride on arrival and departure. It is necessary to bring your own food as it is expensive from the restaurant. The bathroom was dirty and smelly and needed work. We enjoyed our stay but felt that the facilities needed better up-keep and prior knowledge of menu prices would have been good.
