Hedonisia Hawaii Eco-Hostel is located in the lush tropical rainforests of the \'Big Island\' of Hawaii near the town of Pahoa.

Our eco-hostel is soothing, relaxed and quiet; only 10 bedspaces on a property of 3.72 acres with a shared communal area called \'The Barn\'.

The Hedonisia property has a gigantic 2-acre volcanic crater with a mini-jungle at the bottom. We have built a trail into the crater so Visitors can explore this part of Hawaii\'s cool volcanic landscape!

As part of their booking fee, Guests are free to harvest any produce from our various gardens. For instance, we have three different tropical salad greens almost always available for guests to harvest.

Guests enjoy a solar heated outdoor \'jungle shower\'. And of course, the most photographed place on the property, our famous eco-friendly \'Toilet with a Garden\'! Our fully equipped outdoor kitchen is also popular with Guests and Volunteers alike.

At Hedonisia all Local telephone calls and 1-800 calls are free.

Please note that we are not a \'normal\' hostel. Our rooms are spread out giving room for privacy and romance. Hence the name Hedonisia! This makes our hostel especially popular with couples and singles

Here are the accommodations we offer under the Hostelworld categories based on availability. If a category does not show up on the Hostelworld list that means it is already booked for that period.

All Lodgings include bedding:

a) BASIC 2 BED FEMALE DORM - This is a Mobile Home with a Queen Sized and King Size bed. Though a person or couple can rent the entire mobile home we also offer it as a 2-person Female Dorm.

b) BASIC DOUBLE BED PRIVATE - This option consists of the following lodgings:
i) The Bamboo Hut. This is a private hut. Perfect for couples.
ii) The Love Bus. This is a converted School Bus. Our Jungle Bus apartment is great for up to two couples or for small families with children. It is called the Love Bus because there are some sensual paintings inside!
iii) Jungle Breeze. This is a quirky space in the far corner of the property. This space was has a queen size bed and is made of a pathwork quilt of old tents that have been creatively sewn together to create a unique lodging space.
iv) Ocean View Hut. This is a cozy tiny hut that is at the highest point on the property with a beautiful view of the ocean. Great for those of you who are comfortable walking up trails to get to Ocean View. Not suitable for those who are physically challenged.
v) Sunny Side Hut - This is a beautiful lodging space which is actually built into an old tractor.

c) DELUXE 2 BED APARTMENT/ENSUITE - For those who wish to enjoy the Hawaiian jungle but also need all the amenities of home we offer the Jungle Cottage.

The Jungle Cottage is fully furnished; kitchen with range/oven, refrigerator, and most appliances; ensuite bathtub with a hot shower and flush toilet with eco-friendly bidet. The living/sleeping area has 1 queen size bed and 1 single futon.

d) BASIC 1 BED TENT - A tent can be outdoor or indoor dormitory accommodation in \'The Barn\'. \'The Barn\' is a large indoor communal space with an entertainment area. Though it is a shared space it is quiet in the night.

We have 3 comfortable single tents in the Barn and one single tent space outside. Our tents are fully outfitted with sleeping mattresses, sheets, blankets and pillows. Each tent space allows for privacy.

Please note that Hawaiian State Taxes of 12.42% applies to all bookings.

OPTIONAL CHARGES:

- $5 additional charge for one-night bookings
- $10 flat-rate optional charge for unlimited Internet access or WIFI with your laptop!
- $25 Pickup Fee from Hilo Airport (28 miles away)
- $75 Pickup Fee from Kona Airport (100 miles away but often cheaper to fly to from the mainland).
