I spent three days at Hedonisia and wish I stayed much longer. I felt at home in this small eco-community.

Fun experience, reminds me of an old hippie commune

It was a great time and incredibly nice people. Surprisingly clean for a hostel. Not easy to find! Recommended!

i really liked this place. it was so amusing to make poop and pi outside and at the same times see some fish in the lake very funny. the morning when you wake up u see the beach and the mountain very beautiful.it's a very good place for few days for a tripe in the jungle. thank you a lot for all.

Plan a week there .. a day doesn't do it justice... and an open mind helps

Interesting hosteling project. Great staff. Not exactly the best location unless you are driving a car. Heard a very bad rumours that the area is a very dodgy place to stay but have not notices anything of such nature although it felt spooky at times :))

Amazing place with so much energy. Ive reccomended it to everyone i know. Small thing may help, i didnt notice any group outings or adventures, it may help the fun aspect for the less permanent residents.

great place to be, great people and awesome vibe bit far away from some things but hitchiking was a breeze

This is in the jungle! What an experience. Listening to all the jungle sounds when you are going to sleep, was great!

I have never wrotte an opinion about a reservation I have done but that place... Thats the best place I ever was. Seriously, I wuold not change that place for a 5 star hotel. If you go to big island, stay in hendonisia, believe me, you will never forget that place. I wont tell anything, just discover by your own...

ok :) I recommend, cheap accommodation, but not bad :)

This place is incredible!!! If you enjoy the campings, you will really like this place! Clean, original and very nice! The staff and voluntiers are very friendly and we really enjoyed our holidays with them!! All I can say about this place is good things!!

I feel like staying in my own room. Thank you so much for everything.

Awesome place! This is the way to go when you are in Hawaii - who needs a fancy resort? I wish we could have stayed much longer. Sleeping in a shack in the jungle was really amazing.

Well, this is such a cool place to stay at.Such an experience and so fresh. The location is excellent as a how it is (in the middle of the jungle) but you gotta know it's not convienient to get there even though the staff offers rides. Have a car or be prepared to walk or just ENJOY the jungle!

Really cool place - most character of any hostel I\'ve visited! Emphasis on sustainability and community, and the open-air kitchen and \"rooms\" were great. Location is far off the beaten track, a plus or a minus depending on how you look at it. The owners were super helpful and gave us all kinds of tips about where to go! Only downside was that keeping all our stuff in a screen hut didn\'t feel so secure. But no problems with it really.

We just had an amazing time, and if you are looking for the true aloha spirit this is the right place. Living in the jungle is something everyone should experience. I am so thankful to all the people there for being so wanderful and loving and.... yes i am lost for words once again. All my love to Hedonisia and the people there xxxx ALOHA

Best place to feel the true hawaiian spirit. Just to an active volcano (you can see red in the sky at night from the lava. Excellent staff. The owner is really nice. I would definitly recommend this place

This is a great low key place to relax and use as a base for the non-touristy side of the Big Island.

This is an eco-friendly hostel, like a wildeness hostel. If you like this, you will have great time but if you are looking for a more traditional hostel in downtown Hilo, this is not the one for you, as you will thing to remote or not clean If like me, you wanted a bit of nature then the location is great, as a wilderness hostel, there is no secrity lockers but keep your important stuff on you for the few days you are here and you'll be fine. Staff are very helpful and although wilderness hostel, there is running water in the toilet but if you can't sleep listening to Puerto Rico Coqui frogs at night then this might not be for you but if you want to get away from it all, this is perfect. Lava tours offered which had amazing views, you got up close to the lava, closer than tours from Hilo proper were the view isn't as good Only downside was there ws no running hot water in kitchcn or bathroom but there is gas to warm water up and the shower has hot water and with being remote, you have to buy supplies on way there from airport but you can buy a few beers or food and you'll be grand
