The atmosphere here is what we backpackers look for. There are lots of great communal areas to hang out and meet people. Also the staff is knowledgable and friendly, the kitchen has the best burgers in town and the dorm rooms all have small private lock boxes. This is one of the best hostels we've stayed in in China.
Nice, but pricey room. Staff were friendly and helpful, but a bit too sales-active when it came to tours...
Pay more attention to details. Every conner of the hostel is needed cleaning. However, the hostel is great. Keep your spirit.
A total surprise to see the facilities and green scenery inside the hostel. Really impressed with the restaurant there as well...great food at a great price. Would highly recommend the Panda morning tour as it is very cheap given all the extra costs/hassles you would have to incur if you tried to do it on your own
A great base to start a trip and meet some other travellers. The tourist desk staff are knowledgable and supply good maps, translations, and info. The location is a little out of the city centre, but buses are frequent and easy to use.
I enjoyed my stay. Staff is sincerely friendly and helpful which means that the not only have good intentions but also skill they were efficient In checking in and out and helpful in practical info as well as in travel advisory. Most importantly there is a warm and generous atmosphere. It offers services like laundry com refrigerator and so on. Rooms show wear but were clean. I met very nice young people here it also seemed to accommodate some older hostel clients as well as middle age ones

One of my favourite hostels in china! It offers everything you need with regular theme nights, a DVD library, games room and great bar with excellent food! Highly recommend the cooking class they offer here you can cook three dishes with a chef at a bargain price! The panda tour is also great and all the staff are amazingly helpfull! Thank you for a fab stay!
This place is and feels like an institution, you will feel at home in the big city, maps, laundry, information, tours all is available. It's not quite in the centre but well connected, it is fairly close to the northern bus station and train station. Their reservation and pickup system, with friendly Mr. Yang the driver worked very well. Sherry is a great manager and will remember who you are by name. Other staff are so so, they see too many people maybe. Sims is good though, recommended!
In one word: fantastic! The twin room was light and spacious, the food great and not expensive, lovely tours, friendly staff, beautiful courtyard, a travel agency that can book you airline and train tickets anywhere... Best. Hostel. Ever.
Good. It is outside the centre of the city, but they give you a good map to get around.
Stayed 3 nights. Rooms are tight but each bunk has power, light, curtains, and lockers. Wifi was good (not in the rooms). Bathroom facilities were adequate. The location wasn't the best but it was near bus stops and north bus station. Big place with lots of places to hang out which almost made it harder to meet people because everyone was so spread out between the gardens, bar, loft etc. Staff was very helpful. I would stay again but would prefer hostel with better location
The rooms are really small and the places to chill are too spread out. The food is not that good and really overpriced. It is clean, but I think I expected more, it is ok.
Fantastic hostel! Especially for animal/lovers, since it was the home of a dog and 2 very cute kittens! And also turtles and fish. Staff spoke very well english - we went for the pandatour which was excellent, and the guide from the hostel spoke english very well! At the tours are not expensive at all. Food was good, rooms was good (liked the fact that you had curtains surrounding your bed so you had a bit of privacy). I recommend this hostel!
Thanks for an excellent time and the very helpful stuff. Special thanks to Cherry and the two boys with glasses at the Front Office :-) Just a little remark: the food was great but slighty over-priced for a hostel; hence we caught food more often outside.
The greatest hostel ever... No seriously, the staff was amazing and the atmosphere was just sublime. There was not really that much to see in the city, but the hostel just sucked us in, and made it one of the best stops of our trip in China. All in all, I can recommend Sims Cozy Garden Hostel to everybody, and if I ever visit China again (which I intend to do) Sims Cozy Garden diffinite stop on our trip :D

This hostel is one of a kind in China. Fantastic place to meet up with other travellers, amazing bar with a great outside area. Lovely, friendly staff with brilliant English who are at hand to help book trains and buses, there's brilliant info-folders at hand that inspire trips elsewhere, we ended up diverting our trip to Inner Mongolia thanks to all the info that was provided! Amazing food, so yummy and a great selection of DVDs to chose from! And the cute little kittens, best hostel ever!
Good hostel but not a good location compared to others. The rooms are great and the staff is helpful, but they charge way too much for everything extra.

Great atmosphere and good food. The dorms are cozy and clean. We could really recomend it!
There's nothing like Sim's Cozy. There's a reason why it's rated one of China's top hostels!
