About Helmsdale Hostel
Welcome to Helmsdale Hostel, a small friendly hostel that has recently been upgraded in 2006.
Although now privately run, it is also affiliated to the SYHA.
Member of VisitScotland (Scottish Tourist Board - 4 Stars).
Our hostel is set in the small scenic village of Helmsdale, halfway between Inverness and John o'Groats. It is ideal for cycling, coastal walks, hill walks and birdwatching. Backpackers, birdwatchers and families are welcome.
Once a busy herring port, Helmsdale is situated on the shores of the Moray Firth. The village includes shops, bank, train station, a small harbour and the award-winning Timespan Visitor Centre (open daily Easter to October).
Helmsdale is an ideal stopping off point on the A9 if you are travelling between Inverness (70 miles) and (John o'Groats 52 miles).
