Bedrooms are far to small. Bathrooms where too small for the amount of people. You almost couldnt close the door to the 50x50 cm shower. Staff was not really helpful and messed up with our reservation. Copacabana is not the nicest place to stay. We would recomment barra da tijuca!

Both people in the reception were lovely and were willing to help. However there was one lady who was not so welcoming as the rest. On my first night I went into the shower and saw a used condom. The air con was on too much I had to put on more layers to keep warm.

Our room was stiflingly hot. We were a few rooms down from the air-conditioners and were getting no air at all. It would be better to have a fan in the room, and that way you could get rid of the partitions so there could be proper walls! The noise and light from other rooms because of this was a bit irritating. Otherwise a good hostel, staff are great, and other facilities are good.

Interesting hostel. Staff are great, very friendly and helpful (particularly Paolo!). Need to sort out the air-con in the first floor. I was in one of the rooms and it was absolutely stifling hot. We had to keep the door open in order to get any air.

Guest should be required (or heavily suggested) to lock their cubicles, and not have just an option to pay a deposit for the key. Breakfast would be better if it wasn't the same everyday. Have hot/warm water in the showers and sinks. Have more information about activities/events to participate in. Perhaps a comprehensive map showing locations, prices and means of arranging certain excursions that are available in the surrounding areas.

The hostel was awful - for most of the time there was only 1 toilet available for women and that particular toilet had no door. The place smells of a gym (sweat, damp and chlorine) and for one day smelt like sewage. We stayed in a "6 bed dorm" that we had booked for 6 friends. It was not a 6 bed dorm it was a very small corner of a 36 bed dorm separated by thin plywood. The thin plywood didnt reach the ceiling so there was a meter gap around the room - I have more moans but have run out of space

So, we stayed at this hostel during Carnaval so the value for the money was not what it would have been usually. We stayed in a 30 bed dorm with access to only 4 showers for over 30 women per day for over $R100/night! But that is Carnaval. The place was reasonably clean under the circumstances. The breakfast lady was extremely grumpy! But the people at the front desk were GREAT! It was a good base for carnaval but I wouldn't stay here again.

We stayed at hostel during carnival when it was full of people. There isn't enough bathrooms and showers for that amount of people, and for our misfortune some idiots blocked the toilets with paper every day. Luckily the cleaning lady was hardworking and the places were cleaned twice a day I think. The staff is friendly but their English is sadly sometimes quite bad. The lockers that you can rent are easy to break open. The breakfast wasn't special but ok. Price during carnival is rediculous.

No real walls between the different rooms, which meant you could hear everything. In addition they had a swimming pool in a normal room, which cauwse the whole building to have a n extreme humility.

This hostel gave the impression that a gym owner wanted to make money fast, and had removed all the gym machines and replaced them with beds: the building reads 'Hercus Gym'. The 4 bed bedrooms were tiny with no windows, I stayed in the 36 bed room upstairs which was horrendous: concrete floors and peeling paint, and not even enough space to stand shoulder-breadth between the beds. No organised activities for guests, no tourist information. Staff were tolerant at best. Advice: Don't stay here.

Absolutely the worst place I have stayed during my 6 week trip in Brazil. Th place is a wanna be hostel converted from a gym. The Hercus Gym sign is still on the front. There was one toilet for th entire place for both men and women, as they had not vn completed construction on the other bathrooms. The eating area for reakfast is a joke. A fw plastic tables set in the pssage way from the dorm roms to th stairs to get downstairs. The waste baskets wer continually overflowing with toilt pap
