The rooms are horrible. you can hear anything from the other rooms. Also, they are so small you can't move inside. there are not enough electricity. Not hot water in the showers.

This is one of the worst hostels I've ever been to. If it is the only thing available in Rio, think about leaving the city. The 36 bed dorm looks more like a concentration camp than a hostel. It seems many locals live there and are sizing you up as you walk in - security seems poor and despite what the description says, does not have air conditioning. I switched to 6 bed dorm which was a little better and had A/C and lockers. But, the walls were like cubicle walls so they kept no sound out.

The 36-people room has no AC. No outlet plug nearby and it is not safe to leave your cell phone charging around the hostel. The hostel has 3 floors and a very lousy stair case that makes it difficult to access the toilets. It is close to the subway but the area does not inspire confidence. The common area is badly ventilated, computers not always working and too small for the amount of guests.

It was definitely the worst Hostel I've never been. Dirty bathrooms, rooms & living room. Kitchen almost didn't exist, breakfast very poor. The Hostel is.very insecure during the day, the main door is open and people walk around the hostel, most of themweren't staying there.

The people we met here were awesome, the location is safe and very near the beach/metro/bus lines. The facilities were very basic and internet was intermittent but you get what you pay for as it is quite cheap. The staff are all very friendly and happy to help you out. Had a great time at carnival here!

We had an amazing time at Hercus, which is partly the hostel and partly the amazing other guests. It wasn't as clean as we had hoped, but that may have been because it was Carnival and the hostel was constantly buzzing! Our room was great, and had air con. EL HOSTEL ES UN ENGAÑO.HABÍA RESERVADO Y CUANDO LLEGUÉ ME ENCONTRÉ CON UN LUGAR TOTALMENTE DESASTROSO!!!! ES UN GIMNASIO CONVERTIDO EN HOSTEL:UN GRAN GALPÓN CON DIVISIONES ,NADA DE VENTILASIÓN,ESCALERA MOVIBLE DE METAL,UN AIRE ACONDICIONADO QUE COMPARTEN TODAS LAS HABITACIONES,NO DAN TOALLAS(HE PARADO EN OTROS HOSTELS DEL MUNDO Y ÉSTO NO ME HABÍA OCURRIDO NUNCA),CUANDO PRENDEN LAS LUCES SE ILUMINAN TODAS,O SEA CERO RESPETO,SUCIEDAD POR TODOS LADOS,NADA DE SEGURIDAD,EN CUANTO A PREVENSIÓN!!!!

This is a place you should only stay at if it is the last place available in Rio. They overbook (yes, the other comments here on hostelworld is for real), the whole building is a huge firetrap. The atmosphere is really dodgy (yes, it looks ok in the reception area, but the rest is terrible, and I have stayed in pretty shady places in Laos). Stay away if you can, I rather recommend Cabana Copa, or any other place. Not really sure why hostelworld list them on their pages. Really crappy.

Good location. Cheapest place we found over new years. Basic at first but the friendly helpful staff and good breakfast make it great. Thanks for a great new years. Definately recommend!
