Tried to check in at 6.30 pm (that is half past six in the evening!), got told that the room wasn't ready and still had to be cleaned. The cleaning took an hour! Room was the smallest I had ever seen and the bathroom half see-through, so that it was possible to watch each other on the toilet. Staff was extremely rude and unhelpful when asked about late check-in time and a sheet to cover the bath. This is not a hostel, but a hotel. Staff speaks next to no English. Do not stay here!

Is not that much of an international hostel, it is mostly focused for the Chinese. Staff barely speaks English, no helpful information for travelling, It was clean, facilities are decent and private rooms are ok.

I stayed there for 4 nights. It is very easy to use the metro Line 8 to go anywhere in Shanghai. The room was a bit small but the price and the location make it a very good deal.

It's an adequate place to stay, but it's not a hostel. Personally, I don't think it should be listed on the website. It's a two to three star hotel at best, so if you're looking for a cheap hotel, this is the place for you. Don't expect to meet common travelers as the facility is structured so that you have your own space and privacy.

The people who work there barely speak English, however, the room was small but clean, and everyone who works there is very friendly. It is a close walk to the Hongkou football stadium station and located in a less touristy area with awesome places to eat close by. The Hongkou area has a lot of history as the home for Jewish refugees during WWII. Free internet in the lobby and free wifi included. Only costs 3RMB to do your laundry.

The Hi Inn looks IMHO more like a hotel than a hostel. Everything was very nice and modern and also the room was very modern and clean. What I really liked is that the shower and the toilette were separated, which is not very common in Asian countries but as a western guy you really appreciate such small details. The location was actually quite good, just a few minutes away from the subway, it was a good starting point for my daily trips.

Excellent location with a real and clean shower. One of the best hostels I've stayed at in China.
