I was immmediately greeted with tea and some fantastic information about the city and the tours available. There is a wonderful kitchen and common area both inside and out. The beds are super comfy and bathrooms spotless. This has been a great stop! The staff is ALWAYS willing to help or answer questions. They cook dinners for the guests for a minimum fee and its tasty! Loved it here!
The best place I stayed in Argentina!!! It was like feeling at home...

Gaston and his crew are absolutely the best! It was my second time staying at HI Patagonia and I could not have been happier.

This hostel is highly recommendable! Really sweet and caring staff that tries very hard to make the best out of your stay and help wherever they can. This would be enough to recommend, however: really clean, modern and spacy bathrooms, nice garden with bar, common room with cooking facilities. Not really a party hostel but that's perfect for people who want to connect a pleasant and sociable stay with getting up early and see the amazing nature around! Kepp the work up, peeps! I'm comin' back!
We had the best time in Puerto Madryn and in no small part due to the excellent staff in the Hi Patagonia. The were excellent, they really helped us make the most out our stay there. By far the best hostel we have started across Argentina, Peru and Bolivia. The rooms and bathrooms were cleaned like your mammy would clean them. Piping hot showers and comfy beds too.
Really nice are the evenings when the hostel cooks ( f.e. asado or king praws all you can eat) makes it really familiar. The only annoying thing you are not allowed to bring alcohol from the outside to the hostel...but it is not that expensive.
One of the places where you book for two nights and would like to stay two months. Comfy beds, spotless bathrooms, cozy common areas and the great staff make you feel at home. Thank you for the wonderful time!
Staff are friendly and helpful, and have some great tips to see and do in the area. They have a great common room to chill out, close to the beach to go see the whales at sunset. About a 15-20 min walk to the bus station, it's all flat ground so not difficult at all, rooms are clean and warm and spacious They try cook some lovely meal using local ingredients which I think is great but a little expensive.
Arrived around 8am on a freezing cold morning after a long journey from Buenos Aires and from the minute I arrived I was made right at home by Gaston. The rest of the staff couldn´t do any more for you and the facilities were excellent. Good atmosphere as well among the rest of the guest. Great value for money. Stay here if going to Puerto Madryn
Gaston is the consummate host and happy to help you out with arranging any thing from where to eat to which excursions are appropriate for which days. One of the top ten hostels I've stayed in during my 10 months of travel for sure.
Gaston is a legend! As soon as we arrived we had our time in Pto Madryn all planned out and Gaston gave us some excellent advice for our next stop in Patagonia. The newly refurbished bathrooms are amazing, better than some hotels! It in a great location; go to Halloween for empanadas, the best Dulce de leche ice cream just around the corner, yummy yum yum! Estupendo!!!
Lovely place! Like home! Gaston is incredibly helpful and willing to provide whatever you need. Great stay!
More than an hostel, a home! Thanks Gaston!!
This was by far one of the best hostels I have stayed at in Argentina. The hostel is simple in its style but very comfortable and the owner Gaston makes you feel like you are staying in his home. The bed was so comfortable and the new bathrooms fantastic with great shower. Breakfast was delicious and Gaston is always on hand for advice on what to do. We really trusted him and all his recommendations for tours were brilliant! A nice family atmosphere here and I will definitely return one day!
We had a good stay here. Gaston was very helpful and friendly, and we felt very welcome. Our room was comfortable. The promised dinners every night didn't exist and due to low season it was very quiet. Aesthically one of the most dated hostels I've ever seen. Pinkest bathroom ever! Don't sign up for the yacht tour the hostel recommends. It was very poor and terrible value for money.
We had a really nice stay here! The staff is super friendly and will help you with everything. The atmosphere between the guests was also really good, we had great evenings with good food. The ice cream around the corner is really good!
Very friendly/welcoming hostel. Gaston has a wealth of local info that he's willing to share :) Dorms were nice with sturdy bunk beds, awesome matresses and thick duvets. Nightly asado or prawns was tasty and reasonably priced, The improvement works he's about to tart to kithen and bathooms will make this lovely place even better.
Nice, clean hostel. Excellent staff, really willing to help! Definitely stay here again
Best hostel so far. Gaston is an excellent host with local and national knowledge, he is always willing to help guests with their experience of Puerto Madryn and also to book onward journeys and accomodation. Can´t thank him enough. This hostel was superb, clean, comfortable, great breakfast and facilities. Cooking and eating/socialising area is across the yard away from the sleeping areas so you can get a good nights sleep.
