I loved my stay at High Steet Hostel:) They staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were small but since Edinburgh has so much to offer we were hardly there! The breakfast is good and since its just off the Royal Mile there are loads of pubs, fast food places nearby.

The whole atmosphere at HSH was really homely and comfortable. We loved the lounge area on the basement with the guitars and pool table. We spent quite some time there on rainy days/nights. The staff were really friendly and helpful as well.

Love how all the rooms have a different theme. It is great in terms of proximity to sights me and my companion saw. In the one night I stayed there, I kept finding clumps of hair in the sheets on my bed. The beds were pretty soft, however. Staff very helpful in helping me check in as well as direct me with using the kitchen.

As a first time solo traveler it was one of the best hostels I stayed in.

Indoor bike storage was good, if a little awkward to get to with a large bike.

I'm a single middle aged women and I just loved this experience....it was my first time staying in a Hostel and the staff made me feel very welcome. Traveling alone again, I'd come back here just to have the convenience of a kitchen!

Location, location, location! Clean sheets, hot water, helpful staff and a nice locker that contained my carry-on sized suitcase. You're not staying at the Ritz, but you're staying at the best location for exploring the city on foot. Be aware that most rooms don't have outlets, but the wifi doesn't reach there anyway. Enjoy an hour catching up with your neighbors in the common room while you charge your batteries and catch up on email. Breakfast is worth the nominal price. I'll be back!

Directions given were fantastic. Put me at ease forst off being able to find the place! Staff were lovely and helpful. More plug sockets needed. None in bedroom. Phones etc needing to be charged.

Right on the Royal Mile, the location is fantastic. It's also a historical building so the atmosphere is great. Clean showers with hot water. This is definitely one of my favorite hostels.

I got a bit confused because the website asked what time I'd be arriving, but then I couldn't check in until 2 despite notifying of an earlier arrival. This was fine, but it'd be handy if you mentioned check-in times online so I could've planned my time better.

Two things I didn't like: the smell is really bad around the stairs and my room; and there are no sockets in the room, so I need to go to the lounge and charge my gadgets,

Excellent hostel, best I've stayed in. Central location on a quiet street, very friendly helpful staff. Lovely happy relaxed atmosphere in the lounge area and kitchen etc. Everywhere kept very clean, plenty of toilets and showers. Our room was tiny but very cosy with a big comfortable bed with storage space underneath. A little pricey over bank holiday weekend, but probably better at other times. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
