Found this hostel to be nice and comfy, lots of area to chill and great location. Only downfall is that the walls are very thin and you can hear everyone walking past, up the stairs, and across the floor above, street noise was very loud too.

I recomend this hostel. The guy at the reception was really nice and helpful, the room was nice and there was a big locker for free, the living area and kitchen were big, and the location is very good. the bad things are the bathroom, it's very small to take a shower, the breakfast is not free (only coffee, tea and hot choc) and there was loud music until 4 am in the living area, and I could hear it from my room. but apart from that, it's a good hostel, and has a medieval decoration.

Rooms were very small for a group of 6. There were no plugs inside the rooms, meaning we had to leave our cameras/tablets/mobile phones with reception for charging. Location was very central, with many attractions located a few metres away. Staff were very nice. We were provided with very accurate descriptions of how to arrive to the hostel from the airport. We were also given plenty of information by the staff when we needed it. Had a pleasant stay.

Two of the five nights I stayed there, we didn't had warm water in the shower. Even no, t after I waited for one and a half hour. After that I had to try 3 other floors till I found a shower that hád warm water. When I got to the staff to complain about it, they said they couldn't help me out. I think it's a shame that we (2 persons.) were paying almost 50 pound a night for a bed with nearly a matress (for it was so thin that I got bruises on my leg) and a cold shower!!

Pros: location, friendliness of staff, lockers Cons: the smell - my room smelled of damp floor and my sheets smelled of really cheap fabric softener which transferred to my pyjamas.

Excellent place to stay for a trip to Edinburgh, centrally located in the Old Town. Friendly and very helpful staff, nice character to the building, near to amenities. Only issue was the twin room advertised on Hostelworld is actually a double!

Only if your desperate and on a tight budget. We stayed in the Bill and Monica room(double bed with shared bathroom). The duvet cover was so old that it was close to being see through and covered in stains. Sheets also from the 70's era! Bed had a thin mattress and was very hard. Bathroom was well stocked. Showers were small but relatively clean. Not one of the nicest hostels! Would not recommend to anyone.

Hostel easy to find, not far from the bus stop from the airport and located in the center. But, the reception is quite cold, there is a lot of people, noise and comings and goings in the bedrooms during the night and don't forget anything or you don't find ...

The bedroom for two is extremmely small and the kitchen closes after a time and opens only at 7am and they didn't warned us about that, so I lost much of my food in there because I had a early flight and the kitchen was closed.

It was a brief stay and unfortunately we got a room that smelt like pee. Breakfast wasn't included in the rate. Which was kind of disappointing. Location was excellent as it was easy to find our way around when we were looking for a good feed.

Well, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The place doesn't have a very good smell- but also not is the worse. The place is good, very close to the city. In general is clean. But the room was cold, the heating was off, but the receptionist gave gave me another room to stay. Good for the price in general.

It was a very lively, fun hostel. Great location near most of Edinburghs big attractions and easy to get to/good directions. Beds looked like they'd be awkward but actually really comfortable. Felt safe (my backpack couldn't fit in the locker so I had to leave it out, but wasn't worried at all) and welcomed at all times. Staff was friendly. Awesome common room for the more "social" guests and then there was another room for the more "quiet" people as well. Great hostel all around at a good price

This was a fantastic place! It is located less than a block from the Royal Mile and was very easy to find. I was traveling alone and preferred the quiet of my room and found that the dorms area was quite peaceful in the evenings. For those that sought it, the kitchen area provided an inviting and sociable environment. The staff was also very friendly and happy. I would definitely stay here again!
