Both the staff and fellow travelers- here were wonderful. It\'s a great place to meet people, though maybe not the best if you want a lot of personal space and quiet. The indoor and outdoor common areas are nice. We stayed in the private room with two twin beds- the ceiling was so low we couldn\'t come close to standing up, and beds were on different levels so there was no way to scootch them together. I\'d definitely stay here again, but I\'d probably go for a dorm next timeBoth the staff and fellow travelers- here were wonderful. This hostel definitely has a nice rustic feel and the common room is nice and big and great for hanging out and chatting. The Wifi doesn't always work. I gave a poor cleanliness rating because there is no division between the shower and the toilet - they are w/ in the same 3 foot radius and you shower on the same floor people walk on to get to the toilet. They didn't respect our reservation and our room was occupied, so they gave us a shared room (while we booked a private) 5min away from the hostel. As we asked for something else, they offered another place even farther from the hostel, in an empty apartment with a dirty and stinky toilet, no hot water and no kitchen (and of course the room was also shared). We didn\'t stay at the hostel proper but in a renovated old house just minutes away from the hostel\'s main building in the Old Town of Plovdiv. Great location, beautiful house, beautifully refurbished! The staff was very friendly and attentive. However, toilets in the house were unclean and toilet seats in both bathrooms in the house were broken (unusable). I think Hikers Hostel must raise their service standards in order to match other hostels available in Bulgaria at this point. Not a bad hostel given the options. However, be warned if you arrive from Veliko Tarnovo - there's a good chance you'll be dropped off at a bus station that isn't Yug, and the map and directions you have will be rendered worse than useless - take my word for it!Not a bad hostel given the options. staff was really nice but the shower/bathroom system was a little complex.
