Very friendly and accommodating hosts. The location, while a fifteen minute trip out of Kandy, is set in beautiful jungle. I view this as a positive but needs to be borne in mind.

the hotel was in the middle of nowhere and very difficult to find. The map provided had little resemblance to reality. The room had no air-conditioning and only a fan on request. We had two other rooms which came off ours so couldn't lock up our room. Upon returning to the room at night we were locked out and the person answering the mobile number provided refused to open the door. We had to knock on the residence below. The included breakfast consisted of toast and jam, tea and coffee.

The lady who runs the place is lovely and helpful but the location is not ideal. If you want to be near Kandy then do not stay here as it's in the middle of nowhere up a mountain and kandy tuc tuc drivers do not know where it is. Saying that the lady was a great cook, very kind and knowledgeable and gave us lots of good information. If you're happy getting the train out of kandy and walking long distances to get to your hostel then it's fine. If not then stay nearer to kandy lake.

Staying in Hillcrest was a real pleasure for us, it is a very friendly and calm home, really close to a crowdy Kandy city (by bus cca 20 minutes), so it was very fine to live outside in nature. Home is simple, but comfortable. We recommend everyone who travels to Kandy! Anna

We have loved our stay at Hillcrest! It's very clean and has a beautiful garden view out the dining room. The hosts are so good-hearated and take their time to help you. They even let us store our bags for free a night while we hiked Adam's peak. The meals here are delicious and the basic breakfast that comes with booking is a nice addition. Great wifi, quiet area. We preferred the location to Kandy city, which is super close anyways.

The place is beautiful, in the middle of nature surrounded by palm trees, coconut trees, avocado trees, monkeys, squirrels and tropicals plants. The Lady is very kind and helpful .The place is clean and spacious. But if you have any sense of orientation like me, it could be quite difficult to reach Kandy, cause it's quite far. But the Lady is here also to help you.
