The place is calm, cozy, and perfect to relax and enjoy the capital. It is really close to the Takoma metro station, close to supermarkets and other facilities. You will hardly ever find a manager as commited, sympathetic, and attentious as Donald. Definetely, its is a must-go hostel.

Great value for money. Hostel is close to the subway and nearby shops. There is a lock in the main entrance. Atmosphere is good. Staff is usually decent. There was a argument between a staff and a client when I arrived though. Apart from that only problem is cleanliness. Sheets were old and dirty. Building itself is a little bit old and rusty.

Location excellent. Very close to the subway. The blanket was dirty and smelled bad. The kitchen very clean.

Rules, rules, rules. Empty pizza box in the room so that it does not go blown away from balcony? unacceptable. Single sealed fortune cookie without any intention to actually eat it? no way, go put label on it. Now! No AC after 10 AM, open the window (with hell outside). Every midnight guy comes to check if door is locked. The place itself is not bad, but this kind of ruins the whole picture.

This was probably the cleanest hostel I've ever been in. The dormitory was also unusually spacious. The back decks and yard were a great feature. The basement rec room had a lot of potential, too, but almost no one hung out there. It was a convenient place for me to surf the Web or read in peace -- and at a cooler temperature than outside -- but I expect it gets a lot of use as a social area in the winter. The staff was older than usual for a hostel, so the atmosphere was accordingly sedate.

Very nice location and staff! But many stairs to go

honestly baffled as to why this place has such low ratings... i've stayed at lots of hostels throughout europe and asia, and this is one of my favorites. just the fact that they have a huge kitchen/multiple refigerators ranks HIGH. this place just feels like a home... because it is a home. cons are...yeah, the basement is creepy and they don't have lockers in all the dorm rooms (but there are lockers available elsewhere) and internet is a bit slow in places, but for the homey vibe this is an A+

Proche du metro, chambres agreables et spacieuses (il manque juste un peu plus de prises electriques), salles de bain propres. Les pieces communes donnent une atmosphere tres agreable, notamment avec le jardin et les balcons.

A while away from downtown, but next to the metro. Apparently they're parking lot was torn down (should probably update on website) but the town it was in was cute, lots of coffee shops and restaurants, farmers markets on Sundays and lots of stuff going on. Staff didn't seem to be very informed about much, it's an older crowd and not so much a party vibe. Games room downstairs, but too cold to hand out there and some very old televisions. Not bad, for $30 I would have liked a bit more.
