The house was nice, internet and breakfast. Unfortunately we spent 30minutes outside in the cold waiting for the landlord to arrive for checking in (despite we arrived within the check in times indicated), as our phone was not activated for international phone calls. Thankfully other guests were coming back to the hostel! Also, in the morning I woke up covered in BEDBUGS BITES! Disgusting and quite annoying... I had to get checked as they caused me allergic reactions. Not happy!!

We had a great stay at the Hillview House. The check in was a bit complicated, because it was held via mobilephone. But therefor the house was great. All rooms were clean and top-equipped. There is a great kitchen for cooking diner/lunch and you get a simple breakfast for free. The city centre is 5 minutes by car.

The owner needs to give great support to the person who was mamanging the hostel when I was there. She showd great professionalism and was very friendly towards people. Will be a loss to the hostel when she goes back to Edinburgh.

The best part of this hostel is that It feels like a home - welcome after a bit of traveling. The kitchen was beautiful and really cozy along with the lounge. The only downside is it is a bit out so we ending up taking taxis into town - they run about 7 pounds to get in so if you have a group not too bad.

Excellent place...stayed at the hobbit house, which was very cool. The place is very nice and it has a great kitchen to cook. I strongly recommend this place specially if you have a car. Free parking :)

Overall, the hostel is extremely clean and nice. The single bed in the bedroom is very comfortable and warm. Moreover, the kitchen is full of equipments and they also provide the basic breakfast for you.

Pleasant, nice place. The location is not very convenient without a car - to the center on foot about 30 minutes, no transport. The house is clean and comfortable, has a nice kitchen and a common area. Did not like that at a fairly high price for accommodation, they ask for 1 more pound per towel.

Very lovely room but a little complicated to find

warm reception (arrived completely soaked after a bike trip :-) ), newly built house in quiet surrounding not far from the city centre, the castle like building on pictures on the internet is their neighbour, selfmade breakfast included, everything clean, nice landlady, "hobbit house" in the garden - we stayed inside the main building

We stayed in a 5 bed dorm. On arrival we found that we were put into what is termed as the "hobbit house". The hobbit house is tiny, there is no room to even put your suitcase in it. The beds are on these skinny bench seats lined up head to toe, which meant that the random person who had the bed next to me, kept kicking my feet at night because there are no dividers between the beds. I ended up leaving the room and sleeping on the couch. Do not stay here.

Very quiet, clean, and comfortable, although it was a bit annoying to have to pay for towels.

Would be helpful if the picture in the Hosteworld ad showed the actual residence and not the Inverness castle.

My comments are based on the fact that we didn´t get what we booked! The accommodation offered was a "hobbit" house next to the main building. The "hobbit" is a wooden building in the backyard with caravanstyle benches down either side & at the head of the room, sleeping 2 down either side and a 5th person at the end. The benches had a thin plastic covered mattress and we got sleepingbags. We complained and the only option offered was to get a refund and look for sth new. Thats what we did.

This is a hostel run by one manager with a nice energy about her. She keep the hostel clean and well organized. The hostel is a bit of a walk from the city center...but a nice walk for the most part along the river...but at night if your walk it would be a bit difficult to find. I stayed in what they call the hobbit, which is a bit cramped but okay for 3 or less people. The biggest problem with the hobbit is that it's set up for 5 beds but way to small if 5 people were booked into it.
