Probably the nicest hostel I have stayed in. Gorgeous traditional building fully equipped with all the amenities. Even the dorm has a lovely river view. Walking distance to many sites. Basically, STAY HERE.

I had a very nice stay there and enjoyed the onsen. The building is historic indeed and has the proper old-days onsen feel with beautiful details. The staff spoke good English which is rare in Japan and was extremely friendly. Would highly recommend this place to anyone.

When I was there, it was the right season, so many beds were left empty, soooo, a little quite, sooooo, I enjoy my self in the living room in 1st floor with everything, TV, my laptop with wifi, three tables and 12 chairs and one heater and one huge Floor-to-ceiling window right with excellent river view, and the Onnsenn, and so forth!!! One of the best hostels I've stayed in. It was very clean but traditional at the same time. A natural onsen as well - something you dont see around Japan in the hostels, only in the nicer hotels. Also close to other great onsens. Recommend the nearby fish restaurant also, great value for what you get.
