This hostel is in a beautiful setting overlooking the ocean and mountains. Staff are friendly, beds are comfortable. There are only 3 bathrooms but that is because it's an old building not constructed for large groups, but at least they are very cute.

The room door was very difficult to fully close. When returning to the room, I regularly found it open as others hadn't realized that it hadn't latched. The shower curtains were crusted together at the bottom with pink mold and the shower head was only a loose wand that had to be held during the entire shower. This was inconvenient to use. Considering the price of the stay and the poshness of the (quite nice) lobby, the conditions upstairs in the living spaces was a surprise.

Hlemnur Squre was one of the most qualified hostels I have ever stayed. It is located in a very central location which is really close to main spots of the city like Hallgrimskirkja, Sun Voyager and BSI Bus Terminal. Staff was very helpful. I have stayed in 14 bed mixed dorm and it was super comfy and clean. There is a bar and a huge common area near reception which is great for socializing. Definitely will be staying there again if I go back to Reykjavik one day!

The hostel was a really great place to stay and the staff were very helpful. Tours could be booked through the front desk. Although the breakfast price was a little steep, there is free tea and coffee, nice kitchens and a supermarket across the road. The rooms and bathrooms are all very nicely decorated and clean. Also a very nice bar downstairs witha variety of local beers.

The hostel is within a 15 minute walk from anywhere you need to be. The staff is helpful and friendly. I wish the kitchen had more pots and pans. Other than that it was a pretty ideal hostel

The hostel is in a good location and each of the beds (in the dorms) have their own lamp and plug. The wifi worked quite well also. The breakfast was great, a big selection (but also quite expensive (you can up just up the street and pay half the price... probably for half the quality, though). The biggest downfall of this place were the shower rooms and bathrooms. These were the dirtiest I've seen in any hostel that I visited, so that's something to consider if you're staying for a long time.

Staff was always nice and friendly, the room (12 bed female dorm) was HUGE, and the beds were nice. Everything is expensive in Iceland, so the 1400 isk breakfast was a nice touch. All the tours pick you up at the door and it's right across the road from the Phallus museum!

Great location, great staff, great room and it has a bar downstairs to socialize. Walking distance to everything. Right across the street from the main bus terminal....which takes you anywhere.

This was my first hostel experience and it was great! I was worried about the bathroom situation but there are plenty showers and toilets and pretty clean as well. Loved that there is a wall outlet and light for each bed and storage unit underneath you. Stayed on the 4th floor in a room for 12 females and it was very spacious with sofa and desk.

No major complaints - check out the free food in the kitchen before shopping... I read reviews about people complaining about the bathrooms, but they were perfectly fine to me. The washbasin in the room (12 bed dorm) was a nice addition. Beds were comfortable and clean. Rooms are spacious and there's not much noise from the bus station next door. Within easy walking distance of most attractions. Staff were not overly friendly, but helpful when needed. The bar downstairs is hotel-like.

I really liked this hostel. My dorm had a view of the mountains and the bay! Wow! Clean, nice sized kitchen , friendly staff, good facilities, everything needed for a good hostel stay.

The most beautiful hostel I've ever been to. Not a big common area outside of the lobby to get drunk and get to know each other, but nice either way.

The location is handy (shops, bus station) but not very pretty. (Crazy woman shouting outside) No lockers in the rooms ! Our door lock was broken but there is a second lock before the set of rooms. The rooms are impersonal and it feels this creeped into the atmosphere. Luckily common kitchens forced people together and I had a good time there. Only a curtain separates you from the next-door shower.

Good location with an easy walk to the center. The kitchen was stocked with a few essentials, so you didn't have to buy too many groceries if you wanted to cook. The staff was very friendly, and any messes were thoroughly cleaned during their cleaning time. It was sometimes possible to get access to the floor or room without a key, because the doors didn't automatically close all the way. The lockers are also just drawers under the beds, and mine wouldn't close all the way, so I couldn't lock it
