My stay at the Holistico Hostel was wonderful. We arrived to our host awaiting us and a private room with a fresh flower arrangement. A delicious hot breakfast and coffee was served every morning along with the luxury of a hot shower every day. In fact, a pipe had burst in Antigua while we were there and no one in Antigua had water EXCEPT for Holistico who has a backup purified water system.

Great hostel, great value. Cesar was very friendly and helpful in organizing shuttles and our volcano hike. Rooms were clean, the free breakfast was awesome, and the happy hour was a good deal too (15Q/$2 cocktails and beers, if I remember correctly). The map is a little misleading; the hostel is only a 7 min walk to the central park area and market, and the route is right through the main part of town, not out in the boonies as it appears in the picture. Overall highly recommended!

The guy who checked me in was very friendly and talked to me asked times about what I was doing in Antigua (I was looking into volunteer opportunities). Faviola was the breakfast cook/cleaner. She was quite friendly, too. The rooms were a little chilly, but they had extra blankets in the rooms, and I actually liked having the fresh air. The courtyard had some nice places to sit. There were no smoking signs everywhere, but people still smoked, mostly up on the terrace, but also in the courtyard.
