This was my very first time staying in a hostel, and it was a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly, warm, the food was amazing, and I met awesome people from all over the world including Australia, Egypt, Canada, and many more places. I myself, and from the United States, and there was large population of fellow Americans there as well. I loved how they had so much to do in the hostel including a large movie room and free walking city tours. We also went to the hottest nightlife area!

I had a lovely stay here. The staff was super kind, when I arrived there was confusion with my bedding & it was a pain so they offered me free ginjinha. and these are definitely the best facilities I've ever seen, a really well-designed hostel. It's a central location, which doesn't have as much character as other parts around the city, but it's still really convenient. Definitely recommend it. The beds are awesome & so is breakfast!

When you arrive, it can be a bit confusing where to go to check in since there wasn't a sign (that I noticed) in the entry. You have to go up the the second floor and into the bar area. The rooms were really nice and cleaned each day. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The lounge had a ton of movies to watch. The best part was Mamma's dinner each night, so good! And the location was perfect. Close to everything you need.

Thanks to the staff, we spent a great time there. Also the two free walking tour offer are great to do (specially the one with Gonçalvo and his special theory about team building!).

I have stayed in many hostels and this is by far the best and perfect for meeting people and having fun. The staff is very helpful and they make an effort to know your name and hang out with the guests. Like the name, you feel right at home with mama's dinners, free laundry, and great areas to hang out. They play great music across the whole hostel and you feel so comfortable there you'll never want to leave. I was supposed to stay 1 night and I extended to 3 nights as did many other guests.

Welcoming, clean, well stocked kitchen, good location, not-so-good breakfast, but better than the average free breakfast. Momma's dinner (niece's dinner that night) wasn't anything exciting - unimpressive food (and expensive for what you get) but it brought together lots of people. Huge under-bed lockers, privacy curtains on beds, clean showers and bathroom. Weird set up with rooms two floors above the common areas with some government (?) office on the floor in-between. Will likely stay again.

Home Hostel is the best hostel we've ever been in : beautiful, cozy, clean and worth every penny. Mamma's dinners are soooo good and add a big plus to the atmosphere of the hostel, just as the staff who make you feel like you're a friend, not a guest (we especially loved Joao welcome tour and Andre's conversations in the night shift). The free tours and pub crawls organized by the Wild Walkers are just amazing. Alvaro, Goncalo, Tiago, Hugo and everyone we've met made our stay unforgivable.
