You need to try vet your clientele if you can!! Was in Rm1 around a week ago and an Aussie guy was in the room who was trying to convince us his family were in the Australian mafia. Excuse me feeling unsafe in the room, whether the guy was being serious or being a psycho!!!!! He was working out of those zip up, tartan, plastic bags and was absolutely stinking the room out. I was only staying for a few nights but if I was staying longer I would have obviously requested to change room.

Great location very close to cheap supermarkets, bottle shop, beach, pubs, restaurants and tram. Staff is very helpful in all situations! Kitchen is very well equipped.

security was really bad, anybody can enter the premises and rooms. People were drinking and smoking weed in the room.

I stayed for one week at the home travellers motel and I really enjoyed it! The people at the reception are really nice and help you with everything. the rooms are tidy and clean and all in all was it a nice stay! and if you get bored there is always a nice crowd sitting outside around the table at night time and you are more than welcome to join them. If I come back to melbourne I definetly know where to stay next time :)

I've taken up the home travelers hostel as my home for close to three weeks now. I have had a great stay and have met many interesting and fun people from around the world. The staff is great and very helpful, even in the early hours of the morning. Literally minutes from a gorgeous beach, shops, attractions, and nightlife. Not to mention a delicious burger joint. If you are staying in St. Kilda and want a genuine backpacker experience and not a mickey mouse knock off then stay at this hostel.

The Double Room we had was great size and comfortable, this hostel seemed to have very little interest in keeping people quite through the night , both nights we stayed their were very noisy and no staff seemed to be controlling guests.., having said that would prob be great if you just want to get really drunk all night....

Home Travellers was the 1st hostel we stayed in in Australia and we couldn't have been made more welcome!! Everyone was so friendly and instead of staying for 2 months as we planned we ended up making such good friends and having the best craic so we stayed for 3!!

Look no further if you're a backpacker in need of a hostel in Melbourne. This has to be the chillest place you can stay -- great vibe, interesting people and it's cheap and clean! St. Kilda is also an awesome part of the city that's close to the beach and populated with plenty of nice places to eat and drink.

Really bad stay in this backpacker. It's messy, dirty and small (only one shower and one toilet for 13 persons in the dorm). People are not respectuous at all: noise until 7 am on week-ends and they keep the light on all the night in the dorm! Not nice for those who want to sleep properly! Moroever, we pay 26 dollar for this bad spot! It's the most expensive and the worst backpacker I've ever tried.
