Booked this room as it was dirt cheap- I was in their 12 bed dorm which had an awesome bunch of long termers who were all welcoming. It was split into 2 smaller rooms and was cleaned daily. Home doesn’t have all the frills of some places I’ve stayed but i found it easy to meet other people, it was close to everything, atmosphere was chilled and staff were lovely -they seem to enjoy their job, knew everyone’s name and joined us all for free hot wine on the night I arrived!

This hostel was ridiculously strict, there was limited atmosphere due to the fact that 90% of the people staying there were long termers very cliquey and all had no money. The facilities were very lacking and the place was just sad. I felt like I was staying in a European Ghetto.

I'm not particularly fussy normally but this hostel was pretty gross. Rooms scattered with rubbish, a bad stench that wears you down and the kitchen was pretty bad too. The people were decent & so were the staff, but definitely not worth what they are asking for per-night. Free parking was the reason I went here but I found you can get that at Habitat HQ, a by far superior hostel just down the road, for only a few extra dollars a night.

very noisey place the walls are like paper. didnt bother trying to use the kitchen it was far too small for the hostel size and dirty too. stayed in a double room which was great, very clean with good facilities (fridge, microwave, tv etc). right next to the trams and only 5 minutes from st kilda shops.

Very nice place for a hostel in a bog city like Melbourne! The location is awesome as it is close to buses and trams so its easy to catch a lift into the city, its close to shops in St. Kilda too! There isa crwd of happy party people at night, but lets face it, it is a backpackers hostel, so i you expect a quiet place choose a hotel! The other backpackers were really nice and the staff very very friendly and helpful! I would definitly go there again!

Home is a great hostel in a very good position for access to the beach, shops in St. Kilda and trams up to central Melbourne. Good, clean well equipped rooms with TVs and ensuite bathrooms. The staff are also very friendly and helpfull.

Found the dorm was a mess on check in - no lockers, clothes all over the floor. Bathroom dirty. Closing the courtyard area at night to keep noise down seems like a good idea, except everyone just moves to the outside area, very noisy. Less than happy with the overall standard here, it didn't feel well run so I cancelled two subsequent nights I'd booked.

When you arrive here you feel home already. The rooms are nice and clean. There is a awesome free BBQ every Sunday. Nice big kitchen to do your cooking. Bars nearby to go out for a good night out, beach nearby. It's like a second family when you are at the hostel. Definitely the in St. Kilda

Home is definitely the best hostel I stayed at in st kilda. The staff was really helpful and friendly. Location is good with bus and tram stop just outside the door, close to the beach, bars and stores. Meet a lot of awesome people here! Recommended!!!!

Trams run outside your window until 2am, putting a tv in a 6 bed dorm room is always going to cause friction between various members of the room, other people using our dorm appeared to be living there and so we felt like imposters in their space.

This is one of the best hostels I've stayed at. The location is great just 4 min walk to luna park and loads of different shops. Buses and trams are just a stonethrow away. We stayed a few nights in the 8 bed dorms and a few nights in the double private. Both were really great and clean. The staff is awesome and really helpful!

At this price what can you expect. The fridges don't work and there are some shady characters hanging around. Don't expect a good night's sleep.

Good location & that's about it. We had a private room & one of the staff walked in on us unannounced & seemed shocked that we were there & pretended she was looking for something. Then the next day after being out all day we returned to find door left wide open for anyone to walk in (& there's no lockers). Bathrooms were cleaned but disgusting. Sheets old and torn. Only positive was tv in rooms & free car parking.

During our 9 day road trip between the Gold Coast and Adelaide we stayed two nights. Those two night were the best value of our trip.

The atmosphere at the hostel is fantastic, and the staff are excellent! They have been very helpful and friendly throughout my multiple stays at this hostel. I have stayed at Base St Kilda, Coffee Palace, and Nomads in central Melbourne and none of them come close to this hostel. Pros.. No key deposit, Friendly staff, private bathrooms, big kitchen, a stones throw from the beach, great chilled out atmosphere. No sneaky fees for washing powder etc, free coffee and tea.

Great hostel in a very good position for access to the beach, shops in St. Kilda and trams up to central Melbourne. Good, clean well equipped room with ensuite. Staff were friendly. Lots of buzz in the evenings, but 11pm quiet curfew always enforced.
