We stayed in the double ensuite room in March. Homebase is a great little place to base yourself for exploring Knysna. Our room was large with everything we needed. The staff were helpful and we felt save even with the car park being on the street. They have a great looking pool, which we sadly never got a chance to use... we were there too short.
Very friendly staff and a great location in knysna. Nice deck area and pool.
The room was nice, the staff was friendly. I had some problems to adjust the hot water in the shower but it was fine. They found a snake in the room next to us! Keep the doors and windows closed that my tip.
The manager was great and very helpful, but not impressed with the service and it was so boring to stay there on new years eve and nothing was organised for the guests despite the fact the price has gone up for the new year.i stayed in 37 hostels in s.africa and the only place that the coffee or tea was not provided, it was obvious the owner likes the income but not the expenditure.it was so difficult to sit on the bed because of the gaps between the beds and no sits in the room and small rooms
Very nice Hostel! Hostel manager is very very kind and we had some nice nights at the pool. Also the hostel braai is very nice. Everyone buys their own meat and braais together. The reception (and the bar) are open till 22:00 and before closure you can ask for a bucket of ice (and drinks) so you can extend the night. Dorms are big and the beds are nice. Go to Home Base Knysna!
Was disappointed that none of the staff at that moment knew much about Knysna & its surrounds. But they were very helpful. Having a dog running lose around the place is not everyones cup of tea. The whole place smells of dog. Dog hair all over the living room furniture. Dog was always hanging around the kitchen while people were eating. (Personally, felt it was unhygienic, dog lovers though may not have minded???)
such warm and lovely hosts - will hopefully come back again!
One of my favourite hostels I stayed at in SA. We had a clean, bright double room with a comfy bed. Breakfast was basic but did the job. My favourite bit about the hostel was the lovely balcony with hammocks and sofas - the view was amazing - and it was a very relaxing place to sit. There were always drinks to be had in the evening in the bar, and the owners were super friendly. The only downside was the the beach is really hard to get to if you're not driving - but we managed to grab a lift.
Very nice hostel in quiet area. You can easily walk to the center of Knysna and the waterfront. The kitchen can be used. Only disadvantage is that cars have to be parked outside.
Well located in Knysna, the most beautiful city we visited at the garden route. Friendly staff and big, clean rooms
