read all the reviews before and was positively surprised by this hostel, rooms are average but alright for sleeping, the stuff is helpful, the big room, where everyone meets is nice and the location around causewaybay area got everything you wish for

Good value for the price. Great location in causeway bay. Friendly staff, not the type of party hostel with a lively bar but it definitely is a good place to stay if you are looking for a low key environment. I was at the end of my trip when I stayed there, so I was solely looking to sleep.

You will not get any specials like friendly reception. The stuff does not even try to appear like they are happy to host you, but it´s a nice place to get to know other travellers. Still I think it´s a got place for a stay in Hong Kong, for it isclose to the Central Station and comparably affordable.

Great location in Causeway Bay. The night I spent there, every dorm in hk was sold out and they had the cheapest single I could find. It was actually not in the hostel but at a guest house across the street. It was a wierd feeling being led outside to a different building, but I have to give credit to the owner for being able to provide more rooms this way. The room itself was very simple, but it had all the basics. Bottom line: For budget, no frills, it's good. For atmosphere, go elsewhere.

Although the room wasn't great (old, worn down, sad looking) it was fairly clean. The shower head was broken though. The staff, although not really friendly, did loan us a adapter so we could charge our cameras. The location is fantastic as it is really close to the MTR and there is usually a line of taxis waiting outside the door. Causeway bay is nice and central for getting around. The wireless in the room only worked for the first night.

the very very hard mattress made it challenging to sleep; almost 1000 HK $ was too much for what we got!

truly, is the worst hostel that we had stayed during two months around China. We booked one month early and when we arrived they didn't have the room that we paid for. In three days, they made us change the room (and the building) three times. The staff doesn't speak English (just one guy in the whole hostel) and the rooms doesn't have pluggers. Bad!!!

The place is clean and the staff helpful. That's really all you can ask for in HK. And the location beats Chinking Mansions hands down. Yes, (private) rooms are small and yes, you can't see the sky from your window, but this is HK, if you want luxury pony up some real money and get a four-star hotel. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

I booked a single room insuite and it was vey good. The location ofthe hostel is also excellent. The only thing that bother me a little bit was that sometimes one of the staff people had certain "attitude" to answer questions related to attractions, buses, etc.

The location is fantastic, but other than that... to start, the rates were very high for a hostel that promises so many services, but doesn't deliver. THERE IS NO WIFI IN THE ROOMS. I heard that several people had to pay for towels, which were also promised. Moreover, the hostel isn't all in one building - when I checked in, they walked me down the street and around the corner to an entirely different building, which was still mostly under construction. Did not like having a hole in my ceiling.

Not sure about the dorm rooms but not a good place to stay as a couple. The double rooms are tiny and the bed has that weird plastic rubbish in the pillows and sheets. The wireless internet didn't work on the 10th floor. The main staff guy on the desk was pretty helpful but the other staff always look like they hate you and will not look you in the eye. Has a good common room area.

No Wifi for the last half of the trip. Great location. Took a full day to get the toilet paper replaced. Front desk was ok. Not friendly but helpful, better to deal with at night (they seemed happier then). Did I mention the location, amazing! The price for the first 3 nights was ok, for the last 3 it trippled (I know it's Chinese New Year but what about giving long term customers a break). The bathroom smelled terrible and we had to sleep with the door closed and the window wide open but clean

When rating the hostel, I am comparing it to other hostels i've stayed in around the world. The standard may be good against other hong kong hostels, but it was very low in comparison to hostels i have stayed around the world.

I had a great time staying here for a week and will definitely go back in the future. The best part was the dorms and the common area where it was incredibly easy to meet and befriend people. The staff is fairly friendly but the rooms are clean every morning. There was only one bathroom for the floor and sometimes you can get unlucky and be dumped in an apartment complex down the road or across the street from the main reception. You can easily look past all of this though and have a great time.

The location and price of this hostel beat out all the others. The common room and facilities are pretty great, but the shared bathroom looks gross and the rooms look shabby, but for the price it's a deal. Sam is very nice, but the rest of the staff don't speak English well and therefore have a hard time communicating with the guests. There were also a lot of issues with the wireless internet the week I was there, but, overall, I met a lot of cool people and was in an excellent location.

There are basically two types of accommodations in HK - luxury or budget. Don't expect much for what you pay, and Hong Kong in general doesn't have the greatest hostel scene, where backpackers meet each other but HK Hostel does try to recreate that atmosphere. We got put in a room around the service/laundry area and it was nothing more than a place to crash. No cockroaches or rats, but not exactly the most inviting place to hang around. The lobby is a good gathering place to meet others.

I booked a 5 Bed female dorm but was given a 3 Bed female room. That was fine since the room had its own bathroom. They probably rearrange everyone according to check out date. But when I checked in, the room looked uncleaned and the linens unwashed. A lot of items from previous tenants were left in the room. My roommates who checked in the previous day said it was the same when they checked in. The wifi wasn't working in the room. We had to go to the reception which was in another building!
