Excellent location with reasonable price. But lack of atmosphere of hostel. Just a room in an office building. Doesn't have any living room or sort to mingle with other guests. The security pin number for every room is the same. Not secured at all.

this is Mary, the host of hongdae guesthouse. Happy new year^^ let me feedback to you. thanks for staying with us. you stayed with friends here having your own private room for only your group for one night. we have a big check room and its also for our guests. so people come over the room for breakfast and drink beer with others. and this building is an apartment unit building. not only for office, which means people live in the building and also use it as office to work. The code for entering the room, we never ever made it all the same for security for each room and we change every time we have new guest also for security reason. We are just wondering how did you get the idea that all the room has the same cord to enter? Would you please kindly tell us? If thers's a reason to look it that way, we will try to improve it for other guest to stay safely and it's gonna be a big help for us from you. Thank you. from Mary, the host of Hongdae guesthouse

It's was great experience to stay in Hongdae guesthouse. The Staffs are very helpful and nice. Also the room is big and they come to clean up everyday. If I will travel Seoul again, I will definitely go for Hongdae Guesthouse again.

The hostel staff is very nice and helpful. The location is great, just right above the subway station. We got a family room with a private toilet. The room is very spacious! It is highly recommended if you want a comfortable place. However, if you are looking for a place to meet people, it may not be suitable as there are no common area and we didnt have a chance to talk to others. If you wanna meet some friends, you can go to their second guest house, which is also very nice!

A little bit unorganised - when we booked, we specified that we would check-in at 10am, and when they emailed to confirm, we said 11am instead. But when we arrived at 11am, we were told that normal check-in time was 12pm and were told to come back in an hour! They could've told us in the email to avoid wasting time. Nevertheless, the shared dorm room we stayed in was clean and the beds were comfortable, but the internet was slow and we weren't allowed to flush toilet paper down the toilet.

thanks for your review. people could check in from 9 a.m. and using the room from 2 p.m. becasue check out 11:00 a.m. So we need time to clean up. So I guess there was some misunderstanding. Sorry about that. and about the toilet. , Korean toilet pipe is not big enough, So when some people use lots toilet paper and flush them the toilet plugged. please understand that. thats why we ask people put it into trash bin in the bathroom. from the hostess, Mary

Best location in Seoul! - Easy access to airport since the subway is just below the building. You'll never get lost! Free use of PC with internet in the rooms. Spacious CR and room. free maps, bread, jam, and dryer. However, no common area and the office is a bit cramped with various stuff. If you're with a big group (7-12 persons), this is the best place to stay since you have the room for yourselves. Mary is such a sweetheart! Will definitely be back here.

Two night stay, which was enough. The building is in a great location (next to Hongdae) but that is all. The building lacks any character, it's more just a place to sleep. The common area for food is in an office which is quite cluttered and you don't really get a sense to relax and enjoy breakfast. No stove, just toast in the morning. Staff was moderately helpful, but in comparison to treatment at Hongdae 2.0 last week I would say it was lacking. I would not stay at this location again.

Dear, you could say that. some people feel just like you did~! that was why I opened hongdae guesthouse 2.0 ! ( Yellow submarine ) but....some people like hongdae guesthouse 1.0 -main one- cuz ! I'm here hehe....sorry not to meet you in person ! its more convience and I always try to make people meet each other here with some events~! you seem you live in Korea as you come often so please come back here Or stay at Yellow submarine. thanks again for staying with us ! You most certainly would not come to Hongdae Guesthouse to have a "super fun time." I think the selling point of this place is that it's clean, it's quiet, and the location absolutely cannot be beat. You are literally a one minute walk from the turnstile that admits you to the subway, and Line 2 is by far the most convenient. Hongdae is a convenient neighborhood with shops and restaurants too. The guesthouse does not have a layout with encourages meeting tons of new people, but I like it a lot.
