not the worst hostel I've stayed in but not great... bedding was ripped, frayed and thin. clearly had been used many many times and the sheet didn't fit the mattress properly. everything in the hostel seemed a bit grubby and old. I had to leave early in the morning but as you have to pay a key deposit I had to return my key before the bar shut that evening which meant I had to cut my night short. on the plus side, the room was larger than most I've stayed in and nice and airy.

I was for the first time at the hostel and liked it. It's not like in a hotel, but they are more interesting and friendly people. If I get back to London, I'll be happy to come to your hostel

The hostel is a very beautiful place... And if you enjoy with live music, this is your place! At night, it's a noisy place, and the weekend, until 3 am, it's almost impossible sleep... The staff is kind, but I forgot an important file folder with important documents inside, and I sent an email to know about it, and nobody replay me... I'm still waiting!

Nice hostel with a good atmosphere. Its a little bit out of the city, so you have to go by train a like 20 minutes, so still ok. Everything else was good value for the price. Really nice stuff and a bar downstairs=) so maybe you don't want to stay in the girls dorm on weekends, cause it gets really loud, but if you are tired you can't hear it ;)

Great venue with extraordinary atmosphere in the heart of my beloved Brixton. It was my second stay at HNH and for sure not the last one!

Dirty, cool, small showers. Reggae concerts under the bedrooms every night until 1 or 2 am. Access to the bar is restricted by bouncers, since it is public-- you'll need to go around the front and wait in line. Lots of smokeys staying here long term, too. Not my favorite experience, although Brixton is cool.

The four showers I had were all cold. I informed the staff and they said they would work on it. They later told me it was fixed however when I had another shower, it was cold again. I don't think the floor in my room had been cleaned in some time, couldn't walk bare foot, you could feel the dirt under your feet. I wasn't told where the bathrooms were, or that I had a locker available to me or about breakfast. Was very disappointed with my stay and was thrilled to be leaving.

The best part about staying here was that the people, working and staying there, were all really nice! Also, it is a good location because the bar itself is a lot of fun and had really great music!

-Water in showers was freezing cold one day -Shower room and washroom were colder than it was outside.. need new windows or something -Should be a little food discount for downstairs too! :) -Super friendly staff upon arrival -Washroom needs a hand dryer or paper towels -Showers are annoying as hell.. they shut off every 9 seconds (I counted)

Although it was a bit confusing with all the alleys and doors (sometimes we felt like "Alice in Wonderland"), we liked the kitchen very much, especially that the breakfast stuff was upfilled until 11.30 am. Thank you very much! We enjoyed staying at your place.

I've been to many hostels in London and I can say that Hootanany is one of the best hostels in the city.

Stayed here two nights as my first choice was booked out. Needed something accessible to Heathrow, Euston and the city so location was perfect. shops outside Brixton station and the hostel a few blocks away. Great start when I arrived; tour with Tom, great, Bed/room decent but lacked a mirror. Pretty much downhill after that. Dirty showers with no ventilation which meant water from steam remained on the ceiling and mould grew. Toilet always smelt funky (stale carpet). Cheap but never again.

Really marketed for young people, which is ok, but facilities not great. Some new couches and a good carpet clean in the common room would improve the place, as would some lighting in the arrivals passage.

Fantastic value for money and eay to get to from the train station, staff were friendly and the all day cereal, tea, coffee etc was great . I was only staying here after a rave so was not affected by the noise of the pub but I could see how people could have their sleep disrupted by the downstairs pub if trying to get an early night. Cleaners were evident which was good but when i got back the lock on my dorm was broken so I had to sleep on the lounge sofa- staff apologetic and didnt bother me

The Hoot has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are all really friendly. The beds are comfy, kitchen is really big and they offer free breakfast. The bar downstairs is really fun, you can get to the centre of London in in less than 20 minutes but Brixton is a really exciting area in itself.
