It´s such a nice place to live in, a lot of people from many different countries live there. But in the other hand it´s not a good hostel to be on vocation.

This was an interesting place to say the least. I didn't sleep because I had an early flight so stayed in the lounge. It is full of long termers and they were friendly and very chatty. Some stayed up with me and chatted througout the night. Was a scary neighbourhood though and I had to wait for my taxi at 4.00am.. Lucky someone came down and waited with me. Very exceptional staff who helped me to get a good trustworthy taxi. I recommend this hostel if you want to party in London.

Everyone that worked there was very nice and helpful. The only thing is that it's located (literally) directly above a bar and can get somewhat loud at night. It's not terrible, but you can hear the music so if you're one of those people who need complete silence to fall asleep, take this into consideration. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay there. Definitely worth what we paid.

I liked the experience of being at a hostel and a pub at the same time! it was different to meet people that in fact are living in London, that is, many of non-backbackers...that makes you get more information of the city out of its inhabitants.. for this, it looks like that there are many people that are not quite interested in meeting new people..they might get a little bit annoyed about the travelers that go there 4just a while!Overall I enjoyed it;the freedom feeling, most of all;breakfast 2

Fun place, right near brixton tube station. Bar is right below, so it's noisy at night. The bass from the live music rattles the room.

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay than this is ok. If you like to have clean showers, clean kitchen and a place to have a good sleep, don't come. Beds are horrible and bar bellow is too loud. I had some issues with my bed because was it was stripped and given to a 'newcomer' while I was out exploring London. In the end it was sorted out but couldn't be done without a verbal fight. The place is ok for people who need to stay just anywhere or are used of living in a squat house.

If you come to have fun in a hotel in London, it is definitly the place to stay in London. There is a good mix between short terms and long tems. And they have fun all the the time. There was even some fancy dresses that the hostellers use during the night when partying. But if you only want to sleep, like in a standard hotel, it is not really the good place to stay.

Far away from anything, staff never put those cover things on the blankets. There was a group of kids living there, who just ignored us like we weren't there. And even said they were tired of talking to so many strangers. Yeah not a good place if you're looking to meet new people and have fun.

It was in a decent area, but about a 10 minute walk from the nearest tube station. It was clean enough, but everything was very old and worn out. The staff was helpful. It' above a bar so don't expect it to be quiet.

The beds are in need of replacement, and mine in particular: there was blood on it! I'm sure it was washed and so forth, but still. They need to update their living situation and cleanliness level.

I enjoyed my stay at Hootananny. The hostel itself is BEAUTIFUL — big rooms with big windows and funky paintings on the walls — but the mattresses and linens need replacing. The staff was overall great. They played drinking games with my friends and me and seemed to generally want to get to know us. Security is somewhat subpar because the only lockers available are really small. Finally, I was worried about the location (Brixton), but it ended up being an easy 30-minute bus ride from London.

I had a lovely stay at Hootananny, and made lots of friends in the short time I was there. Everybody is a long-termer, which can be intimidating, but everybody is open to socializing with the backpackers if you're open as well. Loved the casual living-room like lounge, and the balcony to smoke on. Lovely atmosphere of live music in the pub below. Lockers, a kitchen, warm showers, awesome bus connections to Central London, not much else I could ask for. Just to forewarn, a party hostel!

We arrived late at night to find the 'receptionist' taking shots behind the bar. Taking us upstairs to a dirty room with ripped carpets and drugs on the floor and nightstands. The bedlinnen was gross and so was the whole hostel. Needless to say we left even though it was 11PM, no way we were going to stay in that rathole!
