They did not honour the downpayment and over charged me with 20.000 dong

Booked into stay at Hop Yen, paid deposit, but was told on arrival that they were fully booked and told that I was to blame by arriving at the wrong time when I had clearly arrived at the time by booking stated. Had to stay elsewhere.

The dorm is quite cramped, a problem made worse by the lack of storage for everyone's packs. There are windows between the dorm room and the hallway, meaning lots of noise especially early in the morning. The previous reviews of bedbugs is sadly accurate. The saving grace of my stay was the staff. I accidentally left my e-reader in the bench just outside, and one of the staff members found it and kept it safe until I returned.

Not bad for the money, room was a little cramped would be better with one less bed, not many dorms available in hoi an so didnt have alot of choice but i thought this place was ok, not half as bad as some of these other reviews say in my experience.

Strange atmosphere. Not very clean. Beds very close together. Door is unlocked. No common area. Compared to what other hostels offer in the area it's not very good.

The lockers were broken and the room smelt damp with very little ventilation. Staff were helpful and location was great and central. The room is quite small and cramped. Would not stày here again.

We paid deposit for four nights and wanted to stay at hop yen every night when we were in Hoi An. But so sorry that we couldn't stay any longer in such a crappy place, we just changed to another hotel on the second day. It was like hell versus heaven.

The pictures on hostelworld.com don't show what it looks like at all! It's not shiny and new but pretty run-down and shabby. Staff is not very helpful or friendly.
