We really enjoyed our stay. Location was far from Colombo but this had great appeal - we thoroughly enjoyed being a little amongst the 'real Sri lanka' and catching the train into the city with locals was a big highlight of our time in Sri Lanka so far. Having said that, a tuk tuk only took 15 mins to the city centre in good traffic. Staff were friendly and the room was immaculate. I'd recommend hornbill to any friends visiting Colombo!

The place had just had everything a tourist would require. If a standard breakfast is provded, one couldn't ask for more.

Out of the way but it was nice to be at the beach instead of in the city. Only complaint is that they seemed to make a few double bookings (unable to coordinate online bookings perhaps!).

Great value place in Colombo. Excellent wifi and kitchen with free tea and coffee which is bonus. Very comfortable and clean large rooms. Not in the centre but tuk tuk is cheap and quick into town.

This is an excellent place to stay and highly recommend it! This guest house is family owned and run, where the entire family pitches in to make the guests feel comfortable by looking after every detail. My room was spacious, very clean, and had a nice view from the balcony. They are more than willing to sit down with to help with local advice and planning your trip around Sri Lanka. They also have a nice restaurant on the property with attentive staff.

The staff and room was excellent. the only problem i found was that the location is Very quiet (which some people might prefer) and there was nothing to do or eat nearby.
