Hostal 8 Venado Reviews

While we enjoyed the staff at Hostal 8 Venado, we had to leave early due to the extreme heat. The room was claustrophobic and had little ventilation. Still, we would recommend this hostal to those who want a low-priced place to stay near the beach.

If you're looking for a basic place, close to the beach, but away from the hub-bub, this place might be for you. We appreciated the helpfulness of the owners, the shared kitchen and sunny rooftop. There is nice area a 5 minute walk South of the hostel with some simple restaurants and hotels. A few negatives about the hostel were that the shared kitchen wasn't the cleanest (dishes left, flies in the organic bin) and the dogs were a bit annoying playing around where we ate in the common area.

As a solo female traveler I like to stay places that are helpful and friendly without feeling like I\'ve been given training wheels. At Hostel 8 Venado I always felt like a family friend. The owners are wonderfully kind, warm, and helpful. I always felt safe with my stuff and myself and the location is perfect: outside of the main tourist area but still 2 blocks to the beach. Lovely, quiet hostel just 100m from the beach with a friendly owner who helped us with everything we needed. The roofterrace is a georgeous place to watch the sunset and chill after a hot day in the sun. We definitely recommend this hostel!

I should say my holidays wouldn´t be so great without 8 venado, I´ve stayed there for about 2 weeks, I also knew another hostels around the area and believe me this is the place if you are looking for a quiet place, the price versus services really worth. I also should say there is an amazing terrace where you can chat and meet other guests, drink your beer and wait for a great night sky show.

The hostel is cute and there is nice and friendly atmosphere but it is very far from the central places of Puerto Escondido. The quiet beach of Punta (with few restaurants) is near but to Zicatela you have to walk 30-40 mins. To the central beach (where u can find shops, restaurants, supermarkets...) of Puerto even more. The area is so quiet (exept the animal noices) that we stayed the evening inside.

Wonderful hostel located just off the beach in La Punta, Denise is super helpful and they have 2 lovely dogs - Chico and Pancho..! Really clean with a great communal kitchen and a roof terrace for sunset watching and evening tequila drinking! Super close to good surfing and great nightlife. Lovely friendly crowd, would totally stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at hostal 8 venado. The owner welcomed us with a warm smile and immediately made us feel comfortable. She is a very friendly person and recommended excellent restaurants and things to do in Puerto Escondido. When we expressed our interest in surfing lessons she took care of calling and making lesson reservations for us which included pick-up right from the hostal. The location is just a few minute walk from the famous Zicatela beach and there.

The lady that runs this hostel is beyond nice and so helpful. It is worth staying just for her hospitality. I left my iPhone in the taxi and her husband ran aroid trying to locate it, which, amazingly, he did!

Beautiful and very characteristic hostel. Denise was very welcoming and hospitable. Booked a private room which was very spacious and clean . The end of zicatela beach is only a few minutes walk and was our favourite beach in Puerto Escondido. Would recommend.

A proprietária é sempre muito atenciosa. Ótimo tratamento pessoal. As instalações deixam a desejar, principalmente o banheiro. Se localiza perto da praia, mas longe do centro comercial. Poderia ser mais barato se comparado com os outros hostels da região, que possuem uma infra-estrutura infinitamente melhor.
