Small and quiet, yet with a cool vibe. Eric is the most generous and friendly hostel manager I've met. It's hostel living for sure, but you have everything you need, it's in a great location, comfortable and safe.

One of the best hostels of my trip. The owners are very friendly, the atmosphere is awesome ( it is like living at home ) and even after just 2 days you will regret that you have to go. When you go to San Cristobal, Stay here!

We had a nice stay here. We had a very warm welcome by Erick and he gave us lots of great information. The hostel is just a few steps away from the sights. There is a friendly atmosphere and quiet at night. Free wifi, water and you start youre day with a delicious breakfast preperad by Erick the chef.

Hostel Akumal is the bomb. Not a party hostel, more like being welcomed into the beautiful and warm home of Erick and his girlfriend.

Perfect place to be if you want to meet nice ppl and staff. I arrived early in the morning and had a very warm welcome from Eric. Just great after a night Bus. He asked if I wanted breakfast aswell that day and cooked coffee. For this I didnt even have to pay extra. Breakfast in General was great, everyday fresh cooked by Eric and he always asked if you like two eggs or one. The location was good, only 1-2 min to the main streets and around the corner to the great artesania market.

Really nice hostel in a lovely, peaceful and secure city, Eric runs the place really well, and cooks a mean breakfast! It´s just a really nice touch that he wakes up and makes it for everyone. The dog´s cool too, adds to a really comfy and cosy atmosphere here, recommended!

Nice little hostel operated by the owner. More like a private house than a hostel (only one dorm and one double), with a very nice and helpful owner (ask for his recommendations). Located in walking distance to the city center. The only thing: They have a dog. It does not enter the guest rooms, but if you don't like or are afraid of dogs, you might want to consider a different place. It is a very friendly dog, though ;)

The owner Erick was very friendly, cooked an amazing breakfast, told me the best places to go and even made me a sandwich for the bus journey when I left. Great hostel, free wifi, good location near the market, not far from the centre. Would definetely recommend!

Thank you for having us as guests Cinzia, Chandra, and Erick. It's great how you open up your home to travellers. We left early, but found our prepared breakfast in the fridge and it was delicious. Keep up the good work and good luck with your future plans. Make your dreams come true.

Amazing breakfast! They got new beds for the dorms while we were there which was awesome. We slept so well :) The location is great too; so close to the markets and pedestrian streets. Thanks Eric!

Bob and I spent two nights at Akumal and enjoyed our stay very much. Erick was relaxed, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious, one of the best we've had on our travels so far. The only small thing that was inconvenient was access to the bathroom from the private room we had: one outside the main building and the other in the adjoining dorm. The room itself was spacious and there was space to unpack some of our things. And there was a reading lamp next to the bed:- muchas gracias

This is a really great place. Its very intimate and a bit outside the touristy area of San Cristobal but close enough for convenience. The couple that run it are interesting and helpful. I saw many of the other hostels in San Cristobal and I would recommend it especially if you are the sort of traveler that finds the hostel with a bar thing that could be anywhere in the world really annoying. At this hostel you really feel you are in a special place!
