I booked to stay for two nights, and four nights later im still here. This is the perfect place to stay while exploring valle de elqui. Its suuuper easy to get here from la serena, you can get around the valley easily by bus, its clean and comfortable and friendly and safe. Breakfast is great, the surroundings are stunning. OH and the riveeeeer! Its a real quick walk and it is heaven. Um basically, dont do the 'la serena hostel+elqui valley day tour' combo, stay here and explore for days on end.
The owner and stuff will make you feel at home from the moment you enter the gate. They are very lovely and nice people and the place itself is very quiet and at cosy. Make sure to taste all the jams Richard gives you for breakfast they are delicious! He's very interesting man, he'll tell you about the Elqui Valley, the stuff you can do around and he'll try to do everything to help you with any need you may have.
Staff are friendly and the hostel has good facilities. However, due to the location and lack of people, the hostel lacks some atmosphere. Also staying at this hostel was like staying at someone's house which was awkward at times.
Lovely, quiet spot. Easier to find by bus than expected: in La Serena, look for buses with "Paihuano" in the window
I Can highly recomand this hostel. The owner Richard speaks 5 languages and is fullfilling his dream down there. Awsome place to relaxe and to enjoy the beautiful landscape without paying for everything like in San Pedro. The hostal is located near a brautiful river and sourrounded By moutains. Richard helps u with everything, he organized a bbq and around midnight he fired the chakuzi for us to relaxe and watch shooting stars! Awsome place, always again!

Very nice hostel! The staff is really friendly - you should have a talk with the owner! Recommended!
This place is very very special. I´ve been travelling for two months and this has been by far my favorite stay. Richard is working hard for Al Yaras to be the next big thing. Wood-fired jacuzzi, telescope, home-made jams for breakfast, an amazing location plus a sense of being at home. I planned for 2 nights but stayed for 4. Really nice place to meet people and relax or explore the surrounding beauty of Valle de Elqui.
Hostal Al Yaras is located a short bus ride outside Vicuna in a quite area with beautiful views of the valley. Richard the owner is a lovely friendly guy and happy to help with and questions or bookings you may have.
Comfortable and relaxing base in Elqui valley . Easy access by local buses passing through Vicuna and from Pisco Elqui until about 2030 each night. Bus stop is ' La Campana' at KM72.5 on the main road and signposted the 400m to the hostel.

My stay at Hostel Yaras was awesome. Richard, the owner, is a very kind and warm person, he immediately welcomed me with a cup of coffee. The house is really nice, and if you are looking for some peace in a quiet place, Hostal al yaras is for you. The breakfast, with all kinds of homemade jams, is delicious! And if you need any kind of information about places to visit, Richard will tell you all you need about Elqui and its outskirts! 10/10 !!!!
